| dc.description.abstract | Soil contamination caused by waste oil spills is one of the environmental problems that leads to
the degradation of soil quality and the disruption of microorganism activity. Hydrocarbon
compounds, particularly Total Petroleum Hydrocarbon (TPH), are toxic and difficult to degrade,
thus requiring effective and sustainable remediation efforts. This study aims to evaluate the
effectiveness of kasgot as a bioremediation agent in reducing TPH levels in oil-contaminated soil
and to assess the effect of varying kasgot concentrations on the degradation process. The results
show that the addition of kasgot to oil-contaminated soil for 30 days accelerated the reduction of
TPH compared to the control. The initial TPH level of 4.28% decreased to 3.432% in P0 with an
efficiency of 19.8%. Greater reductions were observed in treatments with kasgot, namely 36.3%
in P1, 45.6% in P2, 46.7% in P3, and 46.9% in P4. The efficiency increased significantly at higher
doses, reaching 65.3% in P5 and achieving the best result in P6 with an efficiency of 87.6% and a
final TPH level of 0.532%. This value meets the quality standard (<1%) according to the
Regulation of the Minister of Environment No. 6 of 2021. In conclusion, kasgot effectively
enhances the hydrocarbon biodegradation process and is capable of significantly reducing TPH
levels, particularly at high doses (300–400 g). Kasgot has the potential to serve as an
environmentally friendly bioremediation material for the restoration of oil-contaminated soils. | en_US |
