The phenomenon of married by accident resulting from premarital pregnancy is increasingly found in urban communities, including Tegal Sari Mandala II Subdistrict, Medan City. Marriages that occur without careful planning place young couples in highly pressured marital situations while their emotional readiness has not yet been fully developed. This condition potentially leads to various marital problems, such as emotional conflict, disharmony, and difficulties in effective communication. This study aims to analyze the aspects of emotional maturity among married by accident couples and to identify the factors influencing it. This research employed a qualitative approach with a descriptive method. The research informants consisted of three married by accident couples, supported by interviews with parents, a Psychology lecturer, and a Social Welfare Science lecturer. Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation, while data analysis followed the Miles and Huberman model, including data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing and verification. The findings indicate that the emotional maturity of married by accident couples has not yet developed optimally and remains at the stage of adaptation and transition. The six aspects of emotional maturity, willingness to learn, sense of responsibility, effective communication skills, ability to build social relationships, the shift from egocentrism to sociocentrism, and an integrated life philosophy have begun to emerge but have not yet been fully integrated. Emotional maturity is influenced by individual factors such as young age, gender differences, physical and psychological conditions, and life experiences; environmental factors such as parenting patterns, social support, societal stigma, and media influence; as well as life experiences that function both as challenges and learning opportunities. Nevertheless, some couples demonstrate positive development in emotional maturity through adaptive processing of life experiences, healthy social support, and a willingness to learn and change.en_US
