dc.description.abstractCurrenly, drinking coffee has become a culture or tradition to strengthen family, friends, co-wokers, and improve individual or group performance and creativity, and as a means to expand social networks. In this modren era, hanging out in cafe is one for of habit that students do to fill their free time. One of the places for students to hang out in Medan is Ateku Kopi. This study aims to determine the social function of the coffee culture as a means of social interaction, cultural tradition, and a space for reflection and creativity among students. The sample in this study was 10 students who often spend their time at Ateku Kopi. The data collection in this study used obsevation, interviews, and documentation. Interviews were conducted in depth, where researchers asked question verbally and directly. The results of this study indicate that the social functionof coffee cultureis not only limited to the aspect of enjoying the taste of coffee it self, but also includes social interaction, strengthening communities, and preserving traditions. In many cultures, drinking coffee is often a moment for family, friend, or co-workers to gather to share stories and experiences. This creates space for deeper communication and strengthens bonds between individuals.en_US
