This research is motivated by the importance of understanding the dynamics of
cultural identity in literature, especially in the novel Segala yang Diisap Langit by
Pinto Anugrah, which depicts the conflict between tradition and modernity in
Minangkabau society through the myth of the curse of seven generations. The
purpose of this study is to examine the role of myth in the formation of the cultural
identity of its characters. The method used is qualitative with a descriptive
analytical approach, where data analysis techniques include identifying and
grouping data related to myth and cultural identity, as well as text analysis to
understand the relationship between cultures. The results of the study indicate
that cultural identity is dynamic and influenced by the interaction between
traditional values and new ideologies, where myths function as a tool for forming
identity, and the birth of a daughter becomes a symbol of hope for continuing the
lineage. In addition, the use of the Minangkabau language and the representation
of tradition in the novel reflect how cultural identity is manifested in everyday life,
and shows the resilience of the Minangkabau people in facing changing times
