dc.description.abstractThe development of small-scale renewable energy is a potential solution for areas with low heads and relatively large water discharges. One of the technologies that can be utilized is the gravitational water vortex turbine (GWVT), which works by utilizing the energy of water vortexes in a basin. This study was conducted to analyze the performance of a conical basin vortex turbine with variations in basin outlet diameter and to observe the characteristics of the vortexes formed. The research method used was based on experiments that varied the basin outlet diameter between 150 mm and 170 mm, as well as the water flow rate between 850 LPM, 1025 LPM, 1200 LPM, and 1375 LPM. The performance parameters analyzed included shaft rotation, torque, turbine power, and turbine efficiency. The test results indicate that variations in the basin outlet diameter have a significant effect on the performance of the vortex turbine. A diameter of 150 mm tends to produce higher rotation, power, and efficiency compared to a diameter of 170 mm at the same flow rate, as well as producing a more stable water vortex. Thus, it can be concluded that selecting the appropriate basin outlet diameter plays an important role in improving the performance and efficiency of conical basin vortex turbinesen_US
