This study aims to analyze the types of concrete nouns acquired by Down Syndrome children and describe at what stage their language development is compared to normal children according to Piaget's theory. The research data was collected through interviews with Down Syndrome children at SLB (Special School) NEGERI Teing Tinggi. The method used in this study is a qualitative research method using a descriptive model. The technique used in this study is using the listening method used to collect data. The listening method used consists of the listening method involving speaking and listening method involving free speaking. The results of the study indicate that Down Syndrome children experience difficulties in pronunciation (substitution, omission, addition, metathesis) as explained in the theory of change proposed by Blumstein. In addition, children's vocabulary acquisition is not always in line with their chronological age, but rather slower, so that at the age of 7-14 years their language development is still at the pre-operational stage to the beginning of concrete operations as expressed by Piaget. This research is expected to contribute to the development of language acquisition theory and become a practical reference in developing learning methods in SLB (Special Schools).en_US
