    Abstract
    Polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) denture base material has several weaknesses, there are porosity and water absorbtion properties and prone to fracture when dropped. Weakness in denture bases make PMMA require reinforcing materials, one of it is the use of chitosan nanogel. Chitosan can also affect the color stability of PMMA. It’s known that the addition of 1% chitosan nanogel on the PMMA denture base is the best concentration for color stability. Indonesia is the fourth-largest coffee consumption in the world. Coffee is one of the extrinsic factors that can cause discoloration in PMMA. The study aims to determine the effect of immersion duration PMMA denture base material after addition of 1% chitosan nanogel in coffee beverage on color stability. The design of this study is laboratory experimental, 16 disc-cylindrical specimens with a diameter of 15 x 2 mm (n= 8 from each group). The specimens consisted of 2 group, that is the control group and group which were immersed in coffee beverage. Colour measurements were taken before immersion, and then after 1, 2, 3, 4, and 7 days of immersion. Colour stability was measured using a colorimeter and the colour change of specimens was calculated and analyzed using the Kruskall-Wallis and Mann-Withney test. The results showed there is significant effect on immersion duration PMMA denture base material after addition of 1% chitosan nanogel in coffee beverage on color stability (p=0,0001). The conclusion of this study is the use of 1% chitosan nanogel as a reinforcing material in PMMA denture base material can affect the discoloration of PMMA, so that the clinically accepted time is 4 days of immersion
