    Studi Pembuatan Membran Keramik Berbahan Tanah Liat dan Serbuk Gergaji untuk Menurunkan Kekeruhan dan Total Coliform Air Sungai Deli

    Abstract
    Kuantitas dan kualitas pemanfaatan sungai Deli oleh masyarakat menimbulkan masalah karena kegiatan industri, domestik, dan kegiatan lain yang berdampak negatif terhadap sumber daya air, termasuk penurunan kualitas air yang digunakan untuk sumber air bersih dan air minum. Salah satu alternatif teknologi tepat guna untuk mengatasi pengolahan air bersih maupun air minum adalah menggunakan membran keramik. Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk menganalisis pengaruh variasi komposisi bahan dan ukuran bahan membran keramik yang terbaik terhadap efisiensi penurunan kekeruhan dan total coliform pada air sungai Deli yang diambil dari daerah Kampung Aur Kecamatan Medan Maimun. Pembuatan membran keramik ini menggunakan bahan dasar tanah liat dengan campuran bahan aditif berupa serbuk gergaji, serta berbentuk pot (pot filter) dengan tinggi 18 cm dan diameter 21cm yang dibakar pada suhu 850oC - 900oC selama 8 jam. Variasi ukuran bahan yang digunakan yaitu range 35-50 mesh, 50-60 mesh dan 60-100 mesh dengan perbandingan komposisi bahan membran keramik tanah liat dan serbuk gergaji yaitu (80%:20%), (85%:15%) dan (90%:10%) yang dialirkan dengan sisitem batch. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa membran keramik nomor 1-C90-35 dengan campuran 90% tanah liat dan 10% serbuk gergaji pada ukuran bahan range 35-50 mesh, mampu menurunkan kekeruhan dengan efisiensi tertinggi sebesar 90,36% dengan waktu 200,5 jam. Efisiensi terbaik berdasarkan rata-rata ukuran bahan yaitu sebesar 89,59% pada ukuran range 60-100 mesh. Sedangkan efisiensi terbaik berdasarkan rata-rata komposisi bahan yaitu sebesar 90,11% pada komposisi bahan campuran tanah liat dan serbuk gergaji (90% : 10%). Sementara itu, nilai total coliform pada ketiga variasi komposisi bahan dan ukuran bahan tidak mengalami penurunan setelah difiltrasi dari membran keramik sehingga efisiensinya adalah 0%.
     
    The quantity and quality of utilization of the Deli river by the community creates problems because of industrial, domestic and other activities that have a negative impact on water resources, including a decrease in the quality of water used for clean water and drinking water. One of the appropriate technology alternatives to deal with the treatment of clean water and drinking water is to use ceramic membranes. This research was done to analyze the effect of variations in the composition of the ingredients and the best size of ceramic membrane materials on the efficiency of decreasing turbidity and total coliform in Deli river water taken from the Kampung Aur area of Medan Maimun District. The manufacture of ceramic membranes using clay as a base material with a mixture of additives in the form of sawdust, as well as the shape of pot ceramic membrane (pot filter) with a height of 18 cm and a diameter of 21cm which was burned at 850oC - 900oC for 8 hours.Variations in the size of the material used are range from 35-50 mesh, 50-60 mesh and 60-100 mesh with a comparison of the composition of clay and sawdust ceramic membrane materials namely (80%: 20%), (85%: 15%) and ( 90%: 10%) which is flowed by batch system. The results showed that ceramic membranes number 1-C90-35 with a mixture of 90% clay and 10% sawdust in the size range of materials 35-50 mesh, were able to reduce turbidity with the highest efficiency of 90,36% with a time of 200.5 hours. The best efficiency is based on the average size of the material that is equal to 89,59% in the size range of 60-100 mesh. While the best efficiency is based on the average composition of the material which is equal to 90,11% in the composition of the mixture of clay and sawdust (90%: 10%). Meanwhile, the total coliform value in the three variations in material composition and material size did not decrease after filtration from ceramic membranes so that the efficiency was 0%.
