    Abstract
    Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui kemampuan badan air Sungai Deli dalam melakukan proses self-purificationdi Sungai Deliyang mengalir dari belakang PDAM Tirtanadi Deli Tua, Kelurahan Deli Tua Timur, Kecamatan Deli Tua, Kabupaten Deli Serdang sampai perbatasan kanal yang ada di Jalan Eka Sama, Kelurahan Gedung Johor Kecamatan Medan Johor, Kota Medan yang berjarak 6.818 m. Kualitas air di sepanjang lokasi penelitian ini yang dilihat dari parameter suhu, pH, DO, BOD, COD menunjukkan bahwa kapasitas daya tampung dalam menerima beban pencemaran masih tinggi. Metode yang dipakai dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Streeter Phelps. Pemodelan Streeter Phelps hanya terbatas pada dua fenomena yaitu deoksigenasi dan raerasi. Kapasitas daya dukung Sungai Deli di lokasi penelitian untuk mendukung kehidupan manusia, makhluk hidup lain, dan keseimbangan antar keduanya dalam masih tinggi. Hal ini dapat dilihat dengan nilai laju rearesi (1,21 /hari) lebih besar dari laju deoksigenasi (6,4/hari). Kemudian digunakan untuk mencari nilai f (pemurnian diri) dimana nilai f yang didapat adalah 5,3 sehingga jenis badan air pada lokasi penelitian ini adalah swift streams.
     
    This study was conducted to determine the ability of the River Deli water body in carrying out the self-purification process in the Deli River which flows from behind the Tirtanadi Deli Tua PDAM, Deli Tua Timur Village, Deli Tua Subdistrict, Deli Serdang Regency to the canal border on Jalan Eka Sama, Kelurahan Gedung Johor Kecamatan Medan Johor, Kota Medan within 6,818 m. Water quality along the location of this research which is seen from the parameters of temperature, pH, DO, BOD, COD shows that the capacity of the capacity to receive pollution loads is still high. The method used in this study is the Streeter Phelps method. Streeter Phelps modeling is only limited to two phenomena, namely deoxygenation and radiation. The supporting capacity of Sungai Deli at the research location is to support human life, other living things, and the balance between the two is still high. This can be seen by the rearesion rate (1.21 / day) greater than the deoxygenation rate (6.4 / day). Then it was used to find the value of f (self purification) where the f value obtained was 5.3 so that the type of water body at the location of this study was swift streams.
