    Pengaruh Penambahan Gelatin dalam Sintesis Magnesium Silikat dari Silika Limbah kaca

    Abstract
    Synthesis of magnesium silicate from glass silica waste using gelatin has been carried out. This synthesis was carried out by extracting silica from glass waste with alkaline method using 10% NaOH and then adding MgCl2. Magnesium silicate obtained is then added with gelatin and calcined at 9000 C for 4 hours then the character is determined. Characterization using XRD shows Mg2SiO4 crystal diffraction peaks. The FT-IR director showed the presence of Si-O-Si and Si-OH groups indicating magnesium silicate material. Nitrogen magnesium silicate gas desorption adsorption results showed that the pore size, pore volume, and surface area were respectively 2.91124 nm, 0.000798254 cc / g and 0.822346 m2 / g. The desorption nitrogen adsorption results obtained were different from the desorption results of nitrogen magnesium silicate adsorption using gelatin which were: 4,0194 nm, 0,000682777 cc / g, and 0,723912 m2 / g, respectively. From this study it was found that using gelatin can produce mesoporous magnesium silicate material.
     
    Telah dilakukan sintesis magnesium silikat dari silika limbah kaca dengan menggunakan gelatin . Sintesis ini dilakukan dengan mengekstraksi silika dari limbah kaca dengan metode alkalis menggunakan NaOH 10% kemudian ditambahkan MgCl2. Magnesium silikat yang diperoleh kemudian di tambahkan dengan gelatin dan dikalsinasi pada suhu 900oC selama 4 jam lalu ditentukan karakternya. Karakterisasi menggunakan XRD menunjukkan puncak difraksi kristal Mg2SiO4. Spekturm FT-IR menunjukkan adanya gugus Si-O-Si dan Si-OH yang mengindikasikan material magnesium silikat. Hasil adsorpsi desorpsi gas nitrogen magnesium silikat menunjukkan ukuran pori, volume pori, dan luas permukaan masing-masing adalah: 2,91124 nm, 0,000798254 cc/g dan 0,822346 m2/g. Hasil adsorpsi desorpsi nitrogen yang diperoleh ini berbeda dengan hasil adsorpsi desorpsi nitrogen magnesium silikat dengan menggunakan gelatin yang masing-masing adalah: 4,0194 nm, 0,000682777 cc/g, dan 0,723912 m2/g. Dari penelitian ini diperoleh bahwa dengan menggunakan gelatin dapat menghasilkan material magnesium silikat mesopori.
