A Description of Leading Character’s Conflict in R.J Palacio’s Novel Wonder

Abstract

The title of this paper is A Description of Leading Character’s Conflict in R.J Palacio’s Novel Wonder. This paper discuss about the conflict that faced the leading character named Auggie. The writer uses Tennyson‘s theory for this paper. He divided conflict into two parts; internal conflict and external conflict. The purpose of this paper is to show the result of conflicts such as internal and external that has been found by the writer. The method used in this paper is library research and read the whole story of the novel to get more understanding about the novel and then the notes were taken to identify the sentence that shows the conflict. And last, the writer quoted the sentence or words that shows the conflicts and described that.

Kertas karya ini berjudul A Description of Leading Character’s Conflict in R.J Palacio’s Novel Wonder. Kertas karya ini membahas konflik yang dihadapi karakter utama bernama Auggie. Penulis mengacu kepada teori yang dikemukakan oleh Tennyson. Ia membagi konflik menjadi dua bagian; konflik internal dan konflik eksternal. Tujuan penulisan ini adalah untuk menunjukkan hasil konflik berupa internal dan eksternal yang telah ditemukan oleh penulis. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah riset pustaka dan juga membaca keseluruhan cerita novel untuk memahami lebih banyak tentang novel tersebut kemudian mencatat dan mengidentifikasi kalimat yang menunjukkan konflik. Dan terakhir, penulis mengutip kalimat atau kata-kata yang menunjukkan konflik dan menjelaskannya.
