Abstract

A paper with the title ―A Description of The Main Characters in L. Frank Baum Novel The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz this describes the main characters exist in the novel The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz by L. Frank Baum. The main characters have different traits and different characteristics. The brave Dorothy who likes to help fellow friends. like: Scarecrow who needs a brain, a Tin man who wants a heart, and a Lion needs courage. They go to Oz to ask Oz to grant their request. Dorothy, who wanted to return to Kansas to meet with Uncle and Aunt Em, Toto, who faithfully accompanied Dorothy's adventures to meet her uncle and aunt. There also purpose from this paper, to find out the main characters in the novel The Wonderful Wizard Of Oz. During the process of writing this paper, the writer uses library method with collecting books that related to the topic as the reference. in the Chapter 1, the writer describes the background, problem of study, scope of study, objective of study, significance and method of the study. Chapter 2, contains an explanation of novel, character, main character, protagonist and antagonist character, round and flat character. Chapter 3, contains about describe the main characters exist in the novel. Chapter 4, contains about the conclusion and suggestion of the paper.

Karya tulis yang berjudul ―A Description of The Main Characters in L. Frank Baum Novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz‖ ini mendeskripsikan tentang karakter utama didalam novel The wonderful Wizard of Oz by L. Frank Baum. Karakter utama memiliki sifat dan karakteristik yang berbeda. Dorothy yang pemberani yang suka membantu sesama teman. seperti: Orang-orangan sawah yang membutuhkan otak, manusia Timah yang menginginkan hati, dan Singa membutuhkan keberanian. Mereka pergi ke Oz untuk meminta Oz untuk mengabulkan permintaan mereka. Dorothy, yang ingin kembali ke Kansas untuk bertemu dengan Paman dan Bibi Em, Toto, yang dengan setia menemani petualangan Dorothy untuk bertemu paman dan bibinya. Adapun tujuan dari karya tulis ini yaitu untuk mengetahui karakter utama didalam novel. Dalam proses penulisan, penulis menggunakan metode kepustakaan dengan menggumpulkan buku-buku yang berhubungan dengan topic sebagai bahan referensi. Pada Bab 1, penulis menguraikan latar belakang, masalah, tujuan, makna, manfaat serta metode penelitian. Bab 2, berisi tentang penjelasan mengenai novel, karakter,tokoh utama, protagonist dan antagonis karakter, datar dam bulat karakter. Bab 3, berisi tentang mendeskripsikan karakter utama yang terdapat didalam novel. Bab 4, berisi tentang kesimpulan dan saran dari karya tulis ini.
