The Female Leading Character’s Personality Disorder in Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl

Abstract

This thesis entitled The Female Leading Character’s Personality Disorder in Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl is analyzing about the Obsessive Compulsive Personality Disorder (OCPD) on Amy Dunne. As a disease OCPD can be detected trough symptoms that an OCPD person have. Those symptoms are what the writer wants to analyze in this thesis. From the explanations are found two problems including the symptoms of OCPD in the character of Amy Dunne and the impact of OCPD to her mental health. In order to resolve those problems, the writer uses literature and psychology literature to discover how find the symptoms of Personality Disorder in the novel. After doing the research by using the theory, it was found that there are three symptoms that Amy Dunne have as an OCPD person in the novel including Controller, Paragon, and Pertinacious. The effect on Amy Dunne mental health is that she live in a constant fear and aware of things that has to be according to her will.

Tesis ini berjudul The Female Leading Character’s Personality Disorder in Gillian Flynn’s Gone Girl menganalisis tentang Gangguan Kepribadian Kompulsif Obsesif (OCPD) Obsesif pada Amy Dunne. Sebagai penyakit, OCPD dapat dideteksi melalui gejala-gejala yang dialami seseorang OCPD. Gejala-gejala itulah yang ingin dianalisis penulis dalam skripsi ini. Dari penjelasan tersebut ditemukan dua masalah termasuk gejala OCPD pada karakter Amy Dunne dan dampak OCPD terhadap kesehatan mentalnya. Untuk menyelesaikan masalah tersebut, penulis menggunakan literatur dan literatur psikologi untuk menemukan bagaimana menemukan gejala Gangguan Kepribadian dalam novel. Setelah melakukan penelitian dengan menggunakan teori, ditemukan bahwa ada tiga gejala yang dimiliki Amy Dunne sebagai seorang OCPD dalam novel termasuk Controller (Pengendali), Paragon (Kesempurnaan), dan Pertinacious (Keras Kepala, Keras Hati). Efeknya pada kesehatan mental Amy Dunne adalah dia hidup dalam ketakutan yang konstan dan menyadari hal-hal yang harus sesuai dengan kehendaknya.
