Kepribadian Tokoh Utama dalam Novel Letnan Oey Thai Lo Karya Oey Kwie Djien: Analisis Psikologi Sastra

Abstract

This study aims to describe the personality and factors that encourage the development of the personality of the main character Oey Thai Lo in the novel Lieutenant Oey Thai Lo by Oey Kwie Djien. The method used in this study is a qualitative descriptive method that produces descriptive data in the form of written or oral words about the characteristics of the main characters in the novel. The theory used to get the personality description of the main character in this study is Heymans typology theory which divides psychological quality in three parts, namely emotionality, accompaniment process, and activity. The approach in this study is literary psychology analysis, namely text analysis with consideration of the relevance and role of psychological studies. The technique in collecting research data is to read and note. The results of the study show that: (1) Oey Thai Lo has twelve personality traits, which are trustworthy in finance, careful in determining opinions, honest in legal terms, not quick to despair, wise, good memories, thorough, not calm, like to move , busy, never give up, easy to understand and broad view. (2) Personality types found in Oey Thai Lo, namely the type of the releaseist gepasioner, choleric, phlegmatic, and sanguignis.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan kepribadian serta factor-faktor yang mendorong perkembangan kepribadian tokoh utama Oey Thai Lo dalam novel Letnan Oey Thai Lo karya Oey Kwie Djien. Metode digunakan dalam penelitian ini merupakan metode deskriptif kualitatif yang menghasilkan data deskriptif berupa kata-kata tertulis atau lisan tentang sifat-sifat tokoh utama dalam novel. Teori yang digunakan untuk mendapatkan deskripsi kepribadian tokoh utama dalam penelitian ini adalah teori tipologi Heymans yang membagi kualitas kejiwaan dalam tiga bagian, yaitu emosionalitas, proses pengiring, dan aktivitas. Pendekatan dalam penelitian ini adalah analisis psikologi sastra yaitu analisis teks dengan pertimbangan relevansi dan peranan studi psikologis. Teknik dalam pengumpulan data penelitian ini dengan baca dan catat. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa: (1) Oey Thai Lo memiliki dua belas ciri kepribadian yaitu dapat dipercaya dalam keuangan, berhati hati dalam menentukan pendapat, jujur dalam batas hokum, tak lekas putus asa, bijaksana, ingatan baik, teliti, tidak tenang, suka bergerak, sibuk, pantang menyerah, mudah mengerti dan pandangan luas. (2) Tipe-tipe kepribadian yang terdapat dalam diri Oey Thai Lo, yaitu tipe kepribadian gepasioner, choleris, phlegmatic, dan sanguignis.
