    Abstract
This thesis is entitled “Illocutionary Acts Used by Indonesian Athletes on Caption of Instagram in Asian Games 2018”. This thesis is aimed to find out the types of illocutionary acts and the functions of illocutionary acts that used by Indonesian athletes on their Instagram captions. The research method that is used in completing this thesis is descriptive qualitative method. In analyzing the data, the theory of Yule (1996) is used. The finding shows that there are four types of illocutionary acts found in this study: 14 (58.33%) representatives, 7 (29.17%) expressives, 2 (8.33%) directives, and 1 (4.17%) commissive, while declaration is not found. The functions of the illocutionary acts found on Indonesian athletes‘ Instagram captions are 10 (29.17%) representatives which have the function of asserting and 4 (20.83%) representatives which have the function of informing, 6 (25%) expressives which have the function of thanking and 1 (4.17%) expressive which has the function of wishing, 2 (8.33%) directives which have the function of suggesting, and 1 (4.17%) commissive which has the function of promising. The most dominant type of illocutionary acts used by Indonesian athletes on caption of Instagram in Asian Games 2018 is representative with the function of asserting. It implies that the athletes utter many statements of facts, information, assertions, and descriptions about Asian Games 2018 on their captions due to they themselves who experience Asian Games 2018 directly and the athletes state something about Asian Games 2018 clearly as the truth to be understood and believed by Indonesian people.

Skripsi ini berjudul “Illocutionary Acts Used by Indonesian Athletes on Caption of Instagram in Asian Games 2018”.
