An Analysis of Daelyn Rice’s Inferiority in Julie Anne Peters’ By The Time You Read This I’ll Be Dead

Abstract

This thesis is entitled “An Analysis of Daelyn Rice’s Inferiority in Julie Anne Peters’ By The Time You Read this I’ll be Dead” discussing about inferiority portayed and effects of inferiority on Daelyn Rice. The novel By the time you read this I’ll be dead was selected as the source of data because this novel has an interesting topic to be discussed and inferiority has still been happening in our society. This story is about a teenager girl who becomes a victim of inferiority and it gives her many effects. There are three effects of inferiority that happen in the novel, such as introvert, insecure, and antisocial. The study of this thesis used sociology of literature by Wellek and Warren, the inferiority potrayed and effects of inferiority theory by Alfred Adler. The method used in this study was descriptive qualitative method for analyzing data.

Tesis ini berjudul “An Analysis of Daelyn Rice’s Inferiority in Julie Anne Peters’ By The Time You Read this I’ll be Dead” yang membahas tentang inferioritas yang digambarkan dan efek dari inferioritas pada Daelyn Rice. Novel By The Time You Read this I’ll be Dead dipilih sebagai sumber data karena novel ini memiliki topik yang menarik untuk dibahas dan inferioritas masih terjadi di masyarakat kita. Kisah ini adalah tentang seorang gadis remaja yang menjadi korban inferioritas dan itu memberi banyak efek padanya. Ada tiga efek inferioritas yang terjadi didalam novel tersebut, seperti introvert, tidak aman, dan antisosial. Penelitian skripsi ini menggunakan teori sosiologi sastra oleh Wellek dan Warren, dan teori inferioritas yang digambarkan dan efek dari inferioritas oleh Alfred Adler. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data.
