    Audio-Visual Method in Acquiring English as a Second Language for Kindergarten : A Case Study of TK Al-Ikhlas Marindal I Medan

    Abstract
    This thesis is entitled "Audio-Visual Method in Acquiring English as a Second Language for Kindergarten: A Case Study of TK Al-Ikhlas Marindal I Medan". This study is aimed to examine the effectiveness of audio-visual media in an effort to improve vocabulary for children of TK Al-Ikhlas Marindal I Medan. The method used in this study is qualitative descriptive method. The results of this study indicate that students who can answer completely the material "Animals" is 70%, as many as 28 children among 40 students. Students who can answer completely the material "Numbers" is 92.5%, as many as 37 children among 40 students. Students who can answer completely the material "Fruits" is 67.5%, as many as 27 children among 40 students. Students who can answer completely the material "Colors" is 70%, as many as 28 children among 40 students. This result shows that learning techniques using audio-visual media are very effective in an effort to improve vocabulary for children in TK Al-Ikhlas Marindal I Medan.
     
    Skripsi ini berjudul “Audio-Visual Method in Acquiring English as a Second Language for Kindergarten : A Case Study of TK Al-Ikhlas Marindal I Medan”. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meneliti keefektifan media audio-visual dalam upaya meningkatkan vocabulary pada anak-anak TK Al-Ikhlas Marindal I Medan. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode deskriptif kualitatif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang dapat menjawab dengan tuntas materi “Animals” adalah sebesar 70% yaitu sebanyak 28 anak dari 40 siswa. Siswa yang dapat menjawab dengan tuntas materi “Numbers” adalah sebesar 92,5% yaitu sebanyak 37 anak dari 40 siswa. Siswa yang dapat menjawab dengan tuntas materi “Fruits” adalah sebesar 67,5% yaitu sebanyak 27 anak dari 40 siswa. Siswa yang dapat menjawab dengan tuntas materi “Colors” adalah sebesar 70% yaitu sebanyak 28 anak dari 40 siswa. Hal ini menunjukkan bahwa teknik belajar dengan menggunakan media audio-visual sangat efektif dalam upaya meningkatkan vocabulary untuk anak-anak di TK Al-Ikhlas Marindal I Medan.
