Analisis Potensi Sektor Ekonomi dan Komoditas Industri Manufaktur di Kota Medan

Abstract

Medan with the development of economic sectors has potential especially in manufacturing industry sector from growth to the commodities produced. Eventhough it still has not received and gave much impacts on this sector, it’s owned by the other sectors such as, Large Trade and Retail sector, Hotels and Restaurants, Constructions, Coorporate Services, Real Estate, where these sectores have greater potentials compared to the manufacturing industry sector. However, by seeing from its growth, the manufacturing industry sector can be developed compared to the other small sectors that have small potential and contribution as well, including Agriculture, Excavation, Electricity, Gas and Drinking Water, and other services. The research said, the manufacturing industry sector in Medan is not a fundamental sector with fluctuating growth rate, seeing from locational advantages as well, it has not been found based on data in two research period, such as 2007 to 2012 as first period, and 2013 to 2017 with the value of Differential Shift in this sector ( D ) < 0 in the two study period, then the value of Proportional Shift ( P ) < 0 as well. But this high negative number showed a proportional was proportionally bettter than the sector which has small contribution. Seeing the value of Provincial Shift where ( Ps ) > 0 indicated that this sector grew faster than the average grow rate of the comparison area. And finally, the Location Quotient number where LQ < 1 is not the fundamental sector, the Information and Communication sector is the highest at the end of the research period. The manufacturing industry needed to be developed in order to be able to approach sectors which are the fundamental sector with a large contribution and potential through the commodities produced. So the manufacturing industry sector has bigger and more tangible impact in Medan from all time to come.

Kota Medan dengan perkembangan sektor-sektor ekonomi memiliki potensi khususnya pada sektor Industri Pengolahan/Manufaktur mulai dari pertumbuhan hingga komoditas yang dihasilkan. Meskipun masih belum mendapatkan dan memberikan banyak dampak pada sektor ini, melainkan dimiliki oleh sektor lain yaitu sektor Perdagangan Besar dan Eceran, Hotel dan Restoran, Konstruksi, Jasa Perusahaan, Real Estate dimana sektor-sektor ini memiliki potensi yang besar dibanding sektor Industri Pengolahan/Manufaktur. Namun, jika dilihat dari pertumbuhannya maka sektor Industri Pengolahan/Manufaktur bisa dikembangkan dibanding sektor lainnya yang memiliki potensi dan kontribusi kecil, diantaranya sektor Pertanian, Penggalian, Listrik, Gas dan Air Minum, Jasa Lainnya. Dari hasil penelitian, sektor Industri Pengolahan/Manufaktur di Kota Medan bukanlah sektor basis dengan laju pertumbuhan yang mengalami fluktuasi, begitu pula dilihat dari keuntungan lokasional belum didapati berdasarkan data pada dua periode penelitian yaitu tahun 2007 sampai dengan tahun 2012 periode pertama, dan tahun 2013 sampai dengan tahun 2017 dengan nilai Diffrential Shift pada sektor ini (D) < 0 pada kedua periode penelitian, kemudian nilai Proportional Shift juga (P) < 0 namun angka negatif yang tinggi ini menunjukkan perbandingan dengan proporsionalnya masih lebih cukup baik dibanding sektor yang memiliki kontribusi kecil. Kemudian dilihat dari nilai Provincial Shift dimana (Ps) > 0 menunjukkan sektor ini tumbuh lebih cepat dibanding dengan rata-rata pertumbuhan wilayah pembandingnya. Dan terakhir angka Location Quotient dimana LQ < 1 yang berarti bukan sektor basis, melainkan sektor Informasi dan Komunikasi merupakan sektor basis tertinggi pada akhir periode penelitian. Industri Manufaktur perlu dikembangkan agar dapat mendekati sektor-sektor yang menjadi sektor basis dengan kontribusi dan potensi yang besar melalui komoditas yang dihasilkan. Sehingga sektor Industri Manufaktur memberikan dampak yang lebih besar dan nyata di Kota Medan pada tahun-tahun berikutnya.
