Abstract

The title of this research is “The Psychological Impacts of Sexual Abuse Experienced by The Main Character of K.L Randis’ Novel Spilled Milk”. This research examines the phenomena of child abuse especially for sexual abuse and aim to reveal that literary work reflects social reality. The object of this research is “Spilled Milk”, a novel published in 2013 written by K.L Randis. This novel shows that sexual abuse against children is a relationship between a child and an older person where the child is used as a satisfying object for the sexual needs of the offender. The impact of sexual abuse on children tends to the psychological impacts of the child. This research has two problems to be discussed: what are the psychological impacts of sexual abuse experienced by Brooke and how she overcomes the psychological impacts of sexual abuse. The novel reflects the phenomenon of child abuse which becomes a world concern. The method of this research that is used is Descriptive Qualitative. Data were obtained from words, phrases, clauses, or sentences in primary data. Data were analyzed by literary psychology approach and psychological theory. The psychological theories that are used in this thesis are the psychological impacts of sexual abuse by SECASA and how overcome the psychological impact of sexual abuse by Sarah Kelly. This research is expected to be able to become a reference which can provide useful information child abuse and for people to prevent the act of child sexual abuse and help the victims.

Judul penelitian ini adalah “The Psychological Impacts of Sexual Abuse Experienced by The Main Character of K.L Randis’ Novel Spilled Milk”. Penelitian ini meneliti fenomena pelecehan anak terutama untuk pelecehan seksual dan juga bertujuan untuk mengungkapkan bahwa karya sastra mencerminkan realitas sosial. Objek penelitian ini adalah “Spilled Milk”, sebuah novel yang diterbitkan pada tahun 2013 yang ditulis oleh K.L Randis. Novel ini menunjukkan bahwa pelecehan seksual terhadap anak adalah hubungan antara anak dan orang yang lebih tua di mana anak digunakan sebagai objek yang memuaskan untuk kebutuhan seksual pelaku. Dampak pelecehan seksual pada anak cenderung pada dampak psikologis anak. Penelitian ini memiliki dua masalah untuk didiskusikan: apa dampak psikologis dari pelecehan seksual yang dialami Brooke dan bagaimana dia mengatasi dampak psikologis dari pelecehan seksual. Novel ini mencerminkan fenomena pelecehan anak yang menjadi perhatian dunia. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Deskriptif Kualitatif. Data diperoleh dari kata, frasa, klausa, atau kalimat. Data dianalisis dengan pendekatan psikologi sastra dan teori psikologi. Teori-teori psikologis yang digunakan dalam tesis ini adalah dampak psikologis dari pelecehan seksual oleh SECASA dan bagaimana mengatasi dampak psikologis dari pelecehan seksual oleh Sarah Kelly. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat menjadi referensi yang dapat memberikan informasi yang bermanfaat tentang pelecehan anak dan bagi masyarakat untuk mencegah tindakan pelecehan seksual anak dan membantu para korban.
