    Abstract

DAS Wampu is one of the many DAS located in the Province of North Sumatera with 416.175,19 hectare wide. In the administrative point of view, DAS Wampu is found in 5 (five) disctricts/cities such as Karo District 126.700,83 hectare (30,44%), Langkat District 265.685,78 hectare, Simalungun District 11.743,72 hectare (2,82%), City of Binjai 5.448,71 hectare (1,31%), Deli Serdang District 6.596,14 hectare (1,58%). The damage in ecosystem of DAS Wampu is caused by deforestation and land usage for farming and settlement, these factors raise the biggest impact on the land, such as erosion or degradation and sendimentation. In this research, the method used for calculating the impact of erosion, which happened in DAS Central Wampu, is the USLE Method (Universal Soil Loss Equation), and the MUSLE Method (Modified Universal Soil Loss Equation) to calculate the sedimentation rate. According to the analysis gathered using the methods of USLE and MUSLE, it is obtained that the rate of erosion at DAS Central Wampu is categorized as the low percentage of (73,9%) with the criteria of < 15 tonne/hectare/year and the total of sedimentation with the MUSLE method is 7,624,200.980 tonne/year.
