Analysis of Eco-Metaphor Through Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson’s Selected Lyrical Songs

Abstract

The title of this research is "Analysis of Eco-metaphor through Marvin Gaye and Michael Jonson selected lyrical songs". The objectives of this research are to find out the types of metaphor and how the eco-metaphor is realized in Marvin Gaye and Michael Jackson selected lyrical songs. The concepts of metaphorical expressions are analyzed by using George Lakoff and Mark Jhonson theory. Qualitative research method is used in analyzing this research. The result of this research shows that all types of metaphor are found in the data, with the ontological metaphor as the most frequently used type of metaphor based on Lakoff and Johnson theory. The meaning of metaphor can be easier to understand by using the theory to analyze. The eco-metaphors delineation also revealed from the analysis process by using the mapping table models by Arran Stibe. It shows the condition of the world that has a bad condition, ecological destruction, pollution and our role as the part of nature.

Judul penelitian ini adalah "Analisis Eko-metafora melalui lirik lagu lagu pilihan dari Marvin Gaye dan Michael Jonson". Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis metafora dan bagaimana eko-metafora diwujudkan dalam lirik lagu lagu pilihan dari Marvin Gaye dan Michael Jackson. Konsep ekspresi metaforis dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori George Lakoff dan Mark Jhonson. Metode penelitian kualitatif digunakan dalam menganalisis penelitian ini. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa semua jenis metafora ditemukan dalam data, dengan metafora ontologis sebagai jenis metafora yang paling sering digunakan berdasarkan teori Lakoff dan Johnson. Arti metafora dapat lebih mudah dipahami dengan menggunakan teori untuk menganalisis. Delineasi eko-metafora juga terungkap dari proses analisis dengan menggunakan model tabel pemetaan oleh Arran Stibe. Ini menunjukkan kondisi dunia yang buruk, perusakan ekologis, polusi dan peran kita sebagai bagian dari alam.
