Deixis Found in Batman V Superman’s Movie Script

Abstract

The title of this thesis is “Deixis found in Batman V Superman’s Movie Script”. The objectives of this research are (1) to find out the interpretation of deixis used in the script of Batman V Superman. (2) to find out the referent of deixis used in Batman V Superman‟s movie script. The writer uses qualitative method in this research. Data of this research are utterances that contain deixis spoken by the characters in the movie script. The source of data in this research is the script of Batman V Superman. In collecting the data, the writer uses analysis on written documents as the method. Then, the method in analyzing the data is descriptive-qualitative method. The research used the theory of Maxim from Grice (1975) and Levinson Theory (1983) about deixis. The results of this research shows that the five kinds of deixis based on Levinson‟s theory are used in the movie script Batman V Superman.There is a violation of Maxim contained deixis in. Each deictic word has referent and the referent can be different because the speaker is different as well. The referents in this movie script mostlyperson deixis because the speaker of the utterances mostly use deictic words that refer to the speaker and addresse of the utterances. And because this movie script tells about the admiration of society to the two popular superheros who will fight to save the world.

Skripsi ini berjudul “Deixis Found in Batman V Superman’s Movie Script”. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah (1) untuk menemukan interpretasi deixis didalam movie script Batman V Superman. (2) untuk menemukan referensi deiksis yang digunakan didalam movie script Batman V Superman. Penulis menggunakan metode kualitatif didalam penelitian ini. Data didalam penelitian ini berupa ujaran yang terdapat deiksis yang diucapkan tiap karakter didalam movie script. Sumber data didalam penelitian ini adalah script movie Batman V Superman. Didalam mengumpulkan data penulis menggunakan metode analisis dokumen tertulis. Kemudian, metode didalam menganalisis data menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif. Penelitian ini menggunakan theory maxim berasal dari Grice (1975) serta theory Levinson (1983) tentang deiksis. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan bahwa kelima jenis deiksis berasal dari theory Levinson digunakan didalam movie script Batman V Superman. Terdapat juga violasi maksim yang terkandung deiksis didalamnya. Tiap kata memiliki referensi dan referensi bisa berbeda disebabkan pembicaranya juga berbeda. Referensi didalam movie script ini mayoritas deiksis orang karena pembicara didalam movie script mengacu kepada pembicara dan pendengar didalam ujaran tersebut serta movie script ini menceritakan tentang kekaguman masyarakat terhadap ke dua superhero yang akan bertarung untuk menyelamatkan dunia.
