Speech Act Classification in the New Testment Holy Bible "The Sermon on the Mount"
Abstract
Judul skripsi ini adalah “Speech Act Classification in The New Testament Holy Bible ‘The Sermon on the Mount”. Dalam penulisan skripsi ini, diterapkan kajian kepustakaan dengan mengaplikasikan metode kualitatif deskriptif. Dalam menganalisis data penulis menggunakan teori tindak tutur George Yule (1996) untuk menentukan pengklasifikasian tindak tutur menjadi declarations, representatives, expressives, directives, dan commissives. Declarations dapat diidentifikasi dari suatu ujaran yang mengubah dunia, representatives dapat diidentifikasi dengan hal-hal yang merepresentasikan keyakinan si penutur apakah itu berupa fakta, kesimpulan, atau deskripsi, expressives diidentifikasikan dengan hal- hal yang dirasakan sipenutur yang diexpresikan melalui kesukaan, ketidak sukaan, kebahagiaan, maupun dukacita, directives diidentifikasikan dengan ujaran yang mengekspresikan apa yang diinginkan si penutur kepada pendengar seperti hal perintah, pesan, permintaan maupun saran, dan yang terakhir adalah commissives yang dapat diidentifikasi melalui ungkapan kehendak sipenutur seperti janji, ancaman, penolakan, ikrar maupun lainnya. Dalam khotbah berjudul “ Khotbah di bukit” yang dituliskan penginjil Matius, penulis menemukan 84 ujaran yang diklasifikasikan sesuai tindak tuturnya yakni 16 data declarations, 24 data representatives, 2 data expressives, 39 data directives, dan 3 data commissives. This thesis title is “Speech Act Classification in The New Testament Holy Bible ‘The Sermon on the Mount”. In writing this paper, the study of linguistics by applying description qualitatif method is applied by the writer. The theory of speech act classification applied is by George Yule (1996) to determine the classification of speech acts into declarations, representatives, expressives, directives, and commissives. Declarations can be identified from a speech that changed the world, representatives can be identified with things that represent the beliefs of the speaker whether it be a fact, conclusions, or description, expressives identified with things that are perceived by the speaker that expresses through preferences, dislike, happiness , nor sorrow, directives identified by the speech that expresses what you want the speaker to the listener as it commands, messages, requests and suggestions, and the last is commissives which can be identified through the expression of the will of the speaker such promises, threats, rejection, pledge or otherwise. In the sermon titled "Sermon on the Mount" that was written by Matthew, 84 utterances are found by the writer which are classified in accordance to the speech act. There are 16 data of declarations, 24 data of representatives, 2 the data expressives, 39 data directives, and 3 data commissives.
