    Kualitas Papan Partikel dari Daun Mahoni dan Serbuk Gergajian Kayu Sengon

    Abstract
    Limbah daun mahoni dan serbuk gergajian kayu sengon sangat melimpah.Material tersebut mengandung lignoselulosa yang dapat dijadikan sebagai bahan baku pembuatan papan partikel. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis kualitas papan partikel berbahan baku daun mahoni dan serbuk gergajian kayu sengon pada berbagai komposisi dengan menggunakan perekat urea-formaldehida.Daun mahoni dan serbuk gergajian kayu sengon dicampur dengan komposisi 100% : 0% , 75% : 25% , 50% : 50% dan 25% : 75%. Kadar perekat yang digunakan sebesar 10%. Perekat UF ditambahkan hardener berupa NH4Cl 20%(w/v) sebanyak 1% dan 3%. Ukuran papan partikel yang dibuat yaitu 25×25×1 cm3 dengan target kerapatan 0,8 g/cm3. Pengujian sifat fisis dan mekanis papan partikel mengacu padastandar JIS A 5908-2003.Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa papan partikel yang menghasilkan kualitas terbaik adalah papan partikel dengan komposisi 75% : 25% dengan NH4Cl 20%(w/v) sebanyak 3% dan 50% : 50% dengan NH4Cl 20%(w/v) sebanyak 1%. Namun, untuk sifat mekanis papan partikel tidak ada yang memenuhi standar JIS A 5908-2003.
     
    Waste of mahogany leaf and sengon sawdust are very abundant. It’s lignocelluloses material that can be used as raw materials for the manufacture of particle board. The objective of the research was to evaluate the effect of variations in the composition of mahogany leaf and sengon sawdust from timber industry using urea-formaldehide resin. The compotition between mahogany leaf and sengon sawdust were 100% : 0% , 75% : 25% , 50% : 50% and 25% : 75%. UF resin was used asthe adhesive in the amount of 10%. UF resin added with hardenerform solution of NH4Cl 20%(w/v) as much as 1% and 3%. The dimension of sample test was 25x25x1 cm3 with a density target of 0,8 g/cm3. The particleboards were tested to determine their physical and mechanical properties according to JIS A 5908-2003. The result showed that 75% : 25% with NH4Cl 20%(w/v) as much as 3% and 50% : 50% with NH4Cl 20%(w/v) as much as 1% resulted in the best physical and mechanical properties. But, quality of mechanical properties of the particleboard did not fulfill JIS A 5908-2003.
