A Description of The Relative Clauses Used in Jakarta Post of February, 5TH AND 7TH 2016 Editions

Abstract

ThisPaper is entitled A Description of the Relative Clause used in the Jakarta Post of 5th and 7th February, 2016 editions discusses the 'Relative Clause' based on the types and functions that match the percentage 'Relative Clause' based on the types and functions contained in the Jakarta Post newspaper.The theory put based Oshima and Hague (1999: 212) on Relative Clause into the theory of Relative Clause reference to the description contained in the sentence. This theory explains that the types and functions of Relative Clause divided into six (6) : Relative pronoun as subject, Relative pronoun as object, Possessive relative clause, Relative Clause as object of Preposition, Relative Clause in Phrases of Quantity and Quality, and Relative adverbial clause.From the analysis found six (6) types and functions Relative Clause contained in the Jakarta Post on 5th and 7th February, 2016 there are : 82 relative pronouns as objects equivalent to 42.50%, 33 relative pronouns as the object is equivalent to 17 10%, 13 possessive relative clauses equivalent to 6.73%, 10 relative pronouns as objects of prepositions is equivalent to 5.18%, the relative clause in phrases of quantity and quality equivalent to 2.07%, and 51 equivalent to adverbial relative clauses 26.42%.

Kertaskarya yang berjudulA Description of the Relative Clause used in Jakarta Post of 5th and 7th February, 2016 editions ini membahas tentang ‘Relative Clause’ berdasarkan bentuk-bentuk dan fungsinya sehingga dapat ditemukan persentase ‘Relative Clause’ berdasarkan bentuk-bentuk dan fungsinya yang terdapat dalam koran Jakarta Post tersebut.Teori yang dikemukakan Oshima dan Hague (1999:212) tentang Relative Clause menjadi teori acuan untuk pendeskripsian Relative Clause yang terdapat dalam kalimat. Teori ini menerangkan bahwa bentuk-bentuk dan fungsi Relative Clause terbagi atas 6 (enam) yaitu : Relative pronoun as subject, Relative pronoun as object, Possessive relative clause, Relative Clause as object of Preposition, Relative Clause in Phrases of Quantity and Quality, dan Adverbial Relative Clause.Dari hasil analisis ditemukan 6 (enam) bentuk-bentuk dan fungsi Relative Clause yang terdapat dalam Jakarta Post on 5th and 7th February, 2016 yaitu : 82 relative pronouns sebagai objek setara dengan 42,50%, 33 relative pronouns sebagai object setara dengan 17,10%, 13 possessive relative clauses setara dengan 6,73%, 10 relative pronouns as objects of prepositions setara dengan 5,18%, relative clause in phrases of quantity and quality setara dengan 2,07%, dan 51 adverbial relative clauses setara dengan 26,42%.
