Biographical Analysis of Five Selected Poems by Robert Frost

Abstract

This thesis entitles “The Biographical Analysis of Five Selected Poems by Robert Frost”. There are five selected poems of Robert Frost that chosen as the main object of the analysis in this thesis, those are “Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening”, “The Road Not Taken”, “The Oven Bird”, “Mending Wall” and “ Into My Own” . The thesis discussed about the connection between Robert Frost‟s selected poems and his biography. The writer used Theory of Literature by Rene Welleck and Austin Warren collaborated of descriptive qualitative method of research in this analysis. The writer also used biographical approach and hermeneutic theory which helps the writer to found the connection between Roberts Frost‟s life and his selected poems through his own biography. The writer collected the data from several references by using library method of research, then the collected data are being analyzed to find the connection of Robert Frost‟s biography with his selected poems. After analyzed the data and applied the theory of literature into it, had been known that on Robert Frost‟s selected poems found reflection of his life background.

Skripsi ini berjudul “The Biographical Analysis of Five Selected Poems by Robert Frost”. Lima puisi yang ditulis oleh Robert Frost dipilih sebagai objek utama untuk dianalisis antara lain “Stopping by Woods on A Snowy Evening”, “The Road Not Taken”, and “The Oven Bird”, “Mending Wall” and “ Into My Own” . Skripsi ini membahas tentang hubungan latar belakang kehidupan Robert Frost dengan karyanya yang telah dipilih oleh penulis. . Penulis menggunakan Teori Sastra oleh Rene Welleck dan Austin Warren yang digabungkan dengan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif dalam analisis ini. Penulis juga menggunakan pendekatan biograpi dan teori hermeneutika untuk membantu penulis menemukan hubungan antara kehidupan Robert Frost dengan karyanya yang telah dipilih oleh penulis. Penulis mengumpulkan data dari berbagai panduan dengan menggunakan metode penelitian deskriptif kualitatif, kemudian data yang telah dikumpulkan dianalisis untuk menemukan hubungan dari kehidupan Robert Frost dengan karya-karya nya. Setelah menganalisis data dan menggunakan teori sastra kedalam analisis tersebut, ditemukan bahwa dalam puisi Robert Frost yang telah di pilih penulis terdapat gambaran kehidupan dari Robert Frost itu sendiri.
