    Abstract

Introduction : Diabetes Mellitus (DM) can cause complications of olfactory dysfunction Objective : This study aims to determine the correlation between the function of Type-2 DM compared with non-DM Methods : This study was analytic with cross sectional designed. Divided into 2 groups of DM Type-2 and non-DM patients, the olfactory function was checked using Sniffin 'Sticks Test Results : There were 31 subjects of DM Type-2 and 31 non-DM subjects. There was found olfactory dysfunction in DM Type-2 subjects 38,7% and non DM 0%. There was a significant correlation between (p = <0.001) duration of Type-2 DM with Threshold, Discrimination and Identification (ADI) values. No significant relationship was found (p>0,05) between HbA1c, fasting blood glucose, post prandial blood glucose, and TDI values. Conclusion : Olfactory dysfunction was found in DM Type-2 compared with non-DM. There is a correlation between duration of DM Type-2 and TDI value.
