    Abstract

Background and objective : Incident of shivering in pregnant patients sectio caesarea with large spinal anesthesia reaches 39-85%. Tramadol as a prevention of shivering after spinal anesthesia has been studied at a dose of 0.5 mg / kgBW, whilse still limited research on the effectiveness of MgSO4 prevention of shivering after sectio caesarea. The aim of this study is to compare the efficacy of Tramadol 0.5 mg/KgBW with MgSO4 20 mg/KgBW for prevention of post spinal anesthesia. Methods : This study used a double blind randomized controlled clinical trial and done in Central General Hospital H. Adam Malik and Hospital Jejaring Medan. Result : There were no significant difference between age (p=0,952), height (p=0,576), weight (p=0,232), BMI (p=0,489) and incident of shivering between Tramadol 0,5 mg/KgBW compared to MgSO4 20 mg/KgBW. Conclusion : There were no significant difference in the effectivity of giving 40% MGSO4 20 mg/kgBW compared to Tramadol 0.5 mg/kgBW as prevention of shivering incidents post sectio caesarea with spinal anesthesia.
