    Efektivitas Empathy Training untuk Meningkatkan Empati pada Remaja Awal Pelaku Bullying

    Abstract
    One of the most frequent forms of violence in schools is bullying, resulting the creation of a less secure and comfortable school environment. Bullying behavior can lead to many problems such as engaging in violence, antisocial behavior, or other negative behaviors. This study aimed to examine the effectiveness of empathy training to improve empathy in early adolescents bullies. Empathy training was developed based on four empathy techniques, namely self empathy, accepting others, accurate listening, and perspective taking. Empathy training was conducted among bullies students in SMP "X" Banda Aceh City. The study design used was between grouppretest-posttest control group design and data was gathered through Empathy Scale. The results of data analysis showed that empathy training was effective to increase empathy in early adolescents bullies. This study also indicated a decrease in bullying behavior and bullies has an insight in the form of awareness that being a victim of bullying is very unpleasant. The implication of this research was that participants can maintain the insight that has been obtained through empathy training, so that no longer do bullying and can socialize better with their friends.
     
    Salah satu bentuk kekerasan yang sering terjadi di sekolah adalah bullying sehingga mengakibatkan terbentuknya lingkungan sekolah yang kurang aman dan nyaman. Perilaku bullying dapat mengakibatkan berbagai permasalahan seperti terlibat dalam tindak kekerasan, perilaku antisosial, atau perilaku negatif lainnya. Penelitian ini bertujuan menguji efektifitas empathy training untuk meningkatkan empati pada remaja awal pelaku bullying. Empathy training dikembangkan berdasarkan 4 teknik empati yaitu self empathy, accepting others, accurate listening, dan perspective taking. Empathy training dilakukan pada siswa pelaku bullying di SMP “X” Kota Banda Aceh. Disain penelitian menggunakan between group/pretest-posttest control group design dan data dikumpulkan dengan Skala Empati. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa empathy training efektif untuk meningkatkan empati pada remaja pelaku bullying. Studi ini juga menunjukkan adanya penurunan perilaku bullying dan pelaku memiliki insight berupa kesadaran bahwa menjadi korban bullying ternyata sangat tidak menyenangkan. Implikasi penelitian ini adalah partisipan dapat mempertahankan insight yang telah didapatkan melalui empathy training, sehingga tidak lagi melakukan tindakan bullying dan dapat bersosialisasi dengan lebih baik dengan teman-temannya.
