By examining the potential of production and supplementation response is expected to preserve local goat germplasm resources in Indonesia, especially Samosir goat. The research was conducted in 2 stages, stage 1 was done in Samosir Island, Pusuk Buhit Village in 2015. Phase 2 was conducted at Animal Husbandry Research Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, University of Sumatera Utara in 2016. Phase 1 study using Descriptive Design, the parameters observed were macroscopic evaluation and evaluation Microscopic. The second phase study used a Latin Square design with 4 treatments, namely control, 10 ppm Zinc addition, 10 ppm selenium addition, and 10 ppm Zinc + Selenium 10 ppm. The parameters observed were consumption, weight gain, feed conversion, motility, viability, cement volume, spermatozoa concentration, intact plasma membrane.
The results showed that the reproductive and morphometric potential of samosir goats had a quality that was below average when compared to goats in general. The best treatment shown by BM3 is the addition of Zincum 10 ppm miner + Selenium 10 ppm which can increase the value of body weight growth, feed conversion, motility, intact plasma membrane, viability, cement volume, and spermatozoa concentration. Dengan mengkaji potensi produksi dan respons suplementasi diharapkan dapat melestarikan sumberdaya plasma nutfah kambing lokal yang ada di Indonesia khususnya kambing Samosir. Penelitian dilakukan dengan 2 tahap, tahap 1 dilakukan di pulau Samosir Desa Pusuk Buhit pada tahun 2015. Tahap 2 dilakukan di Laboratorium Penelitian Peternakan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Sumatera Utara pada tahun 2016. Penelitian tahap 1 menggunakan Rancangan Deskriptif, parameter yang diamati adalah evaluasi makroskopis dan evaluasi mikroskopis. Penelitian tahap 2 menggunakan rancangan bujur sangkar latin dengan 4 perlakuan, yaitu blok mineral kontrol, blok mineral penambahan Zinc 10 ppm, blok mineral penambahan Selenium 10 ppm, dan blok mineral penambahan Zinc 10 ppm + Selenium 10 ppm. Parameter yang diamati adalah konsumsi, penambahan bobot badan, konversi pakan, motilitas, viabilitas, volume semen, konsentrasi spermatozoa, membran plasma utuh.
Hasil penelitian menunjukkan potensi reproduksi dan morfometrik kambing samosir memiliki kualitas yang dibawah rata-rata jika dibanding kambing pada umumnya. Perlakuan terbaik ditunjukkan oleh BM3 yaitu penambahan mineral Zincum 10 ppm + Selenium 10 ppm yang dapat meningkatkan nilai pertumbuhan bobot badan, konversi pakan, motilitas, membran plasma utuh, viabilitas, volume semen, dan konsentrasi spermatozoa.
