dc.description.abstractThis research entitled „The Effectiveness of Blended Learning in English Speaking Skill for Undergraduate Students in the Era of Industrial Revolution 4.0.‟. This research aims to find out how the Individual Rotation Model (IRM) of blended learning improves the students‟ English speaking skill achievement by using the Learn Social platform and to find out the students‟ perceptions after blended learning implementation. The research was held at the University of Sumatera Utara to the 2nd-semester students of English Department. In conducting this research, the writer applied descriptive research with a mixed method that is analyzing the students‟ achievement found in the students‟ pre-test and post-test and giving online questionnaire in order to assess their perception toward blended learning after implementing the IRM using the Learn Social platform. Based on the analysis and the findings, the data showed that students‟ achievement in English speaking skill in the speaking subject is increased. The students‟ achievement results in the post-test (Mean=87%) showed higher than the pre-test (Mean=85%) out of 50 students. Whilst, the result of their perception of blended learning through Shortened Experience of Teaching and Learning Questionnaire (SETLQ) showed that 90% out of 42 students positively responded that IRM of blended learning is effective to be implemented. The results show that actually, the IRM of blended learning improves the English speaking skill achievement especially in the components of speaking skill namely, vocabulary, grammar, and comprehension and effective to be implemented for undergraduate students in the era of industrial revolution 4.0.en_US
dc.description.abstractPenelitian ini berjudul Efektivitas Blended Learning dalam Keterampilan Berbicara Bahasa Inggris untuk Siswa Sarjana di Era Revolusi Industri 4.0. Tujuan dari penelitian ini untuk mengetahui bagaimana Individual Rotation Model (IRM) dari blended learning meningkatkan kemampuan berbahasa Inggris siswa dalam mata kuliah berbicara dengan menggunakan platform Learn Social dan untuk mengetahui persepsi siswa setelah menerapkan blended learning. Penelitian ini dilaksanakan di Universitas Sumatera Utara yang melibatkan mahasiswa semester 2 Jurusan Bahasa Inggris. Dalam melaksanakan penelitian ini, penulis menerapkan metode penelitian deskriptif dengan menganalisis pencapaian siswa yang diperoleh pada tes awal dan tes akhir dan memberikan kuesioner daring untuk menilai persepsi mereka terhadap blended learning setelah menerapkan IRM menggunakan platform Learn Social. Berdasarkan analisis dan temuan, data menunjukkan bahwa hasil prestasi siswa dalam keterampilan berbicara bahasa Inggris dalam mata pelajaran berbicara meningkat. Hasil prestasi siswa dalam tes akhir (M=87%) lebih tinggi daripada tes awal (M=85%) dari 50 siswa. Sementara itu, hasil persepsi mereka tentang blended learning melalui Shortened Experience of Teaching and Learning Questionnaire (SETLQ) menunjukkan bahwa 90% dari 42 siswa menjawab positif bahwa IRM dari blended learning efektif untuk diterapkan. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa faktanya, blended learning meningkatkan pencapaian keterampilan berbahasa Inggris, terutama dalam komponen kemampuan berbicara yaitu, kosakata, tata bahasa, serta pemahaman lain dan juga efektif untuk diterapkan bagi mahasiswa sarjana di era Revolusi Industri 4.0.en_US
