    Abstract
Low Back Pain (LBP) is a musculoskeletal problem that can cause pain and disability in patients with LBP. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of foot massage on pain intensity, pain duration, pain frequency and disability in patients with LBP. This study is a quasi-exsperiment. These samples included 40 people with the amount of the intervention group was 20 and control 20. The sampling technique used is consecutive sampling. Based on the results of studies using paired t test show that showed significant difference between pain intensity (α = 0.000), duration of pain (α = 0.004), frequency of pain (α = 0.049) and disability (α = 0.000) in the intervention group before and after the action of foot massage. Where as in the control group there was no difference in pain intensity (α = 0.330), duration of pain (α = 0.577), frequency of pain can not be analyzed because the value of the standard errror difference is 0 and disability in the intervention group (α = 0.144) and there are also differences in the control group (α = 0.018). While based on the independent t test show there are significant differences between pain intensity (α = 0.048), duration of pain (α = 0.000), and disability (α = 0.007) but there was no significant difference in frequency of pain (α = 0.144) after the act of foot massage. The results of this study recommended that foot massage can be performed as one of the non-pharmacological technique to help reduce pain intensity, pain duration, pain frequency and disability in patients with LBP.
