dc.description.abstractThe making and characterization of composites of rumbia leaf bone fiber (Metroxylon sp) with epoxy resin has been carried out as an alternative composite material. Sago palm fronds are taken from the village of Peurupok, in a district of North Aceh, Aceh. This study aims to determine the effect of addition of thatch leaf bone fibers to the physical and mechanical properties of composites. Fiber is obtained by extracting the leaf bone using 5% NaOH for 2 hours. This composite board is made with a composition of fiber mass 0, 2, 4,6 and 8 gr. The physical properties of density, porosity, water absorption and various mechanical tests were carried out in each sample. Preparing the test sample is done in several stages, weighed, mixing, molded using hot press for 25 minutes at a temperature of 90˚C. Based on the analysis of the testing of physical properties and mechanical properties of composite boards of thatch leaf bone fibers produced an optimum density of 1.082 gr/ , porosity of 0.371%, water absorption 0.305%, compressive strength of 51.484 MPa, tensile strength of 5.932 MPa, and flexural strength 49,589 MPa. The results showed that mechanical properties and physical properties had met the JIS A5905: 2003 standard, namely flexural strength> 32 MPa and water absorption <25%. Composite that can be applied to a car bumper.en_US
dc.description.abstractPembuatan dan karakterisasi komposit serat tulang daun rumbia (Metroxylon sp) dengan resin epoksi telah dilakukan sebagai bahan alternatif material komposit. Pelepah rumbia diambil dari desa Peurupok, di suatu kabupaten Aceh Utara, Aceh. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan serat tulang daun rumbia terhadap sifat fisis dan mekanis dari komposit. Serat didapatkan dengan mengektraksi tulang daun rumbia menggunakan 5% NaOH selama 2 jam. Papan komposit ini dibuat dengan komposisi massa serat 0, 2, 4,6 dan 8 gr. Sifat fisik densitas, porositas, daya serap air dan berbagai uji mekanik dilakukan pada setiap sampel. Preparai sampel uji dilakukan dengan beberapa tahapan yaitu penimbangan, pencampuran, pencetakan menggunakan kempa panas selama 25 menit dengan suhu 90˚C. Berdasarkan analisis pengujian sifat fisis dan sifat mekanik papan komposit serat tulang daun rumbia menghasilkan nilai optimum densitas 1,082 gr/ , porositas 0,371%, daya serap air 0,305%, kuat tekan 51,484 MPa, kuat tarik 5,932 MPa, dan kuat lentur 49.589 MPa. Hasil Penelitian menunjukkan sifat mekanik dan sifat fisik telah memenuhi standart JIS A5905 : 2003 yaitu kuat lentur > 32 MPa dan daya serap air <25% Komposit serat tulang daun rumbia dapat diaplikasikan menjadi bumper mobil.en_US
