    Studi Penurunan Kadar Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD) dan Total Suspended Solid (TSS) pada Air Limbah Rumah Makan dengan Metode Rotating Biological Contactor (RBC)

    Abstract
    This study aims to determine the effect of flowrate variation on the efficiency of decreasing COD and TSS parameters were contained in restaurant wastewater. In this study used a reactor of rotating biological contactor. This research was conducted laboratory scale. The type of reactor that is used in this research is continuous flow. The research started with seeding phase which was aimed to seed the microorganism from sludge of septic tank and continued by acclimatization phase which aimed to adapt microorganism with restaurant wastewater. After the acclimatization step is done, the running step were conducting by operating three variations of flow rate at 0,55 liter/hour, 0,825 liter/hour and 1,65 liter/hour. The result show that the operation of flow rate variations give an effect on the removal COD and TSS. The percentage of COD removal achieved by each of flow rate at 0,55 liter/hour, 0,825 liter/hour and 1,65 liter/hour is 76 %, 68 % and 35 % and the percentage of Total Suspended Solid removal achieved is 85 %, 83% and 73 %.
     
    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi debit terhadap efisiensi penurunan parameter COD dan TSS yang terkandung pada air limbah rumah makan. Pada penelitian ini menggunakan reaktor rotating biological contactor skala laboratorium. Pengaliran air limbah dilakukan secara kontinu. Penelitian diawali dengan tahap seeding yang bertujuan untuk menumbuhkan mikroorganisme yang berasal dari lumpur septic tank kemudian dilanjutkan dengan tahapan aklimatisasi yang bertujuan untuk mengadaptasikan mikroorganisme dengan air limbah rumah makan. Proses running dilakukan dengan mengoperasikan tiga variasi debit yaitu 0,55 l/jam, 0,825 l/jam dan 1,65 l/jam. Hasil peneltian menunjukkan bahwa pengoperasian RBC dengan ketiga variasi debit dapat menurunkan parameter COD dan TSS pada air limbah rumah makan. Persentase removal COD dan TSS yang dicapai oleh masing-masing pengoperasian debit 0,55 l/jam, 0,825 l/jam dan 1,65 l/jam adalah 76 %, 68 % dan 35 % untuk penyisihan COD dan 85 %, 83% dan 73 % untuk penyisihan TSS.
