dc.description.abstract | Introduction:Worm infections caused by Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) currently remain a public health problem in the world, especially Indonesia. STH infection is a risk factor for iron deficiency and eventually reaches the stage of iron deficiency anemia in chronic infections. Serum ferritin levels were measured as early detection of loss of iron reserves in the body to prevent anemia.
The aim of this study was to compare serum ferritin levels in elementary school / ibtidaiyah children with and without STH infection.
Method:Cross-sectional studies were conducted in elementary schools with a sample of 60 children, 30 children infected with STH and 30 children not infected with STH, who fulfilled the inclusion and exclusion criteria were included in this study. Each child was examined with the Kato-Katz Method, serum ferritin levels with Cobas e411 (Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay) and Full blood count using Sysmex XN-1000 with the principle of electric impedance and flow cytometry combination The results were analyzed by Whitney Mann test while the difference between egg worm infections with serum ferritin levels with Kruskal Wailis Test.
Result:There was no significant difference in serum ferritin levels between the two groups (p = 0.24), there was no association worm egg infection with serum ferritin levels (p = 0.603). There was no correlation between mild and moderate worm egg intensity found in combined infections Ascaris lumbricoides + Trichuris Trichuria worm infections and Trichuris Trichuria worm single infection with serum ferritin levels (p = 0.153, p = 0.11). There were no significant differences in hemoglobin values between the two groups (p = 0.524). There were no significant differences in leukocyte values between the two groups (p = 0.086). Significant differences were found in eosinophil values in both groups with a value of p = 0.001. Significance of the p value = <0.05.
Conclusion:There was no significant difference betweentwo group for serum ferritin. | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Latar Belakang:Infeksi cacing yang disebabkan Soil Transmitted Helminths (STH) saat ini tetap menjadi permasalahan kesehatan masyarakat di dunia khususnya Indonesia. Infeksi STH merupakan salah satu faktor resiko terjadinya defisiensi besi dan akhirnya mencapai tahapan anemia defisiensi besi pada infeksi kronis. Kadar serum feritin diukur sebagai deteksi dini hilangnya cadangan zat besi dalam tubuh untuk mencegah terjadinya anemia.
Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk untuk membandingkan kadar serum feritin pada anak sekolah dasar/ ibtidaiyah dengan dan tanpa infeksi STH.
Metode:Penelitian potong lintang dilakukan di sekolah dasar dengan jumlah sampel 60 anak, 30 anak terinfeksi STH dan 30 anak tidak terinfeksi STH, yang memenuhi kriteria inklusi dan ekslusi dilibatkan dalam penelitian ini. Setiap anakdiperiksa tinja dengan Metode Kato-Katz, kadar serum feritin dengan alat Cobas e411 (Electrochemiluminescence Immunoassay)dan darah lengkap menggunakan alat Sysmex XN-1000 dengan prinsip kombinasi electric impedance dan flow cytometry Hasil yang didapat dianalisa denganuji Mann whitney sedangkan perbedaan antara infeksi telur cacing dengan kadar serum feritin dengan Uji Kruskal Wailis.
Hasil :Tidak terdapat perbedaan kadar serum feritin yang bermakna antara kedua kelompok (p=0,24),Tidak ada hubungan infeksi telur cacing dengan kadar serum feritin (p=0,603). Tidak ada hubungan Intensitas telur cacing ringan dan sedang yang dijumpai pada infeksi gabungan cacing Ascaris lumbricoides+Trichuris Trichuria dan infeksi tunggal cacing Trichuris Trichuria terhadap kadar serum feritin (p=0,153 , p=0,11). Tidak ditemukan perbedaan bermakna nilai hemoglobin antara kedua kelompok(p=0,524). Tidak ditemukan perbedaanbermakna nilai leukositantara kedua kelompok (p=0,086). Ditemukan perbedaan bermakna pada nilai eosinofil pada kedua kelompok dengan nilai p=0,001.Signifikasi nilai p = <0,05.
Kesimpulan: Tidak terdapat perbedaan kadar serum feritin yang bermakna antara kedua kelompok. | en_US |
