    Abstract
    Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang Tetraethyl Orthosilicate (TEOS) sebagai sumber silika untuk meningkatkan kestabilan dispersi nanopartikel Fe3O4 didalam lubricant. Proses dimulai dengan dicampurkannya serbuk Fe3O4 ke dalam larutan yang mengandung Aquades, Ethanol, Ammonia dan TEOS dengan variasi (0;0,9;1,2;1,5; 2,5) ml. Sampel kemudian dikeringkan dan dikarakterisasi, meliputi analisa fasa yang terbentuk pada Fe3O4 tanpa dan sudah dilapisi TEOS (XRD), sifat magnet (VSM), kestabilan dispersi (Zeta Potensial), dan sifat termal melalui model analitik. Hasil dari analisa fasa yang terbentuk menghasilkan fasa tunggal yaitu magnetite (Fe3O4). Pada hasil analisa sifat magnet terlihat bahwa seiring bertambahnya volume TEOS sebagai bahan pelapis Fe3O4 nilainya cenderung menurun. Pada kestabilan dispersi didapati kestabilan yang cukup baik yaitu -61,73 mV. Dan hasil dari sifat termal pengaruh persen volume berpengaruh sangat kecil pada nilai konduktivitas termal dan panas jenis, dan tampak lebih berpengaruh terhadap peningkatan temperatur.
     
    The research about Tertraethyl Orthosilicate (TEOS) as a silica source has been conducted to improving the stability of the dispersion of Fe3O4 nanoparticle in the lubricant. The process begins with mixing the powder of Fe3O4 into a solution that containing Aquades, Ethanol, Ammonia and TEOS with the variations of (0;0,9;1,2; 1,5;2,5) ml. The samples were then dried and characterized, including the analysis of phases formed on Fe3O4 without and coated with TEOS (XRD), magnetic properties (VSM), dispersion stability (zeta potential), and thermal property properties through analytic models. The results of the phase analysis formed produce a single phase, magnetite (Fe3O4). In the results of the magnetic properties analysis, it can be seen that as the volume of TEOS increases as Fe3O4 coating material the value tends to decrease. In the dispersion stability, it was found that the stability was quite good at -61.73 mV. And the results of the thermal properties of the volume percent effect have very little effect on the value of thermal conductivity and specific heat and appear to have more impact on the increase in temperature.
