    Pemanfaatan Bottom Ash Batubara untuk Menurunkan Kandungan Fosfat (PO43-) pada Limbah Deterjen dengan Aktivator NAOH

    Abstract
    A study on phosphate adsorption utilizing acitvated bottom ash has been carried out using NaOH as activator. This study aims to asses the utilization of bottom ash as an adsorbent to adsorb phosphate ions from water. The research phase starts from the activation process for 5 hours with 3 M NaOH solution. After that bottom ash without activation and those that have been activated are characterized using Scanning Electron Microscopy-Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEMEDS). Based on the results of the caracterization with SEM-EDS, the bottom ash pores before activation are still smooth because the are covered by impurity metals such as Fe, Mg, Ti and Mg. After activation, bottom ash pores become rough because impurities uch as Fe, Ti, and Mg are lost. Then bottom ash was applied to absorb phosphate ions with variations in particle size (50-70 mesh, 70-110 mesh, and 110-140 mesh), mass of adsorbent (1, 2, and 3 grams) for 20, 30, and 40 minutes. Phosphate ions adsorbed by activated bottom ash are analyzed using UVvis Spectrophotometer. The best absorption of phosphate ions (6,8 mg/l) was obtained at particle size 110-140 mesh, mass adsorbent 3 grams and contact time 60 minute. The highest adsorption capacity (6,39 mg/g) was obtained in the mass og 1 gram adsorbent. Freundlich and Langmuir’s models are used to describe the phosphoric ion adsorption isotherm by bottom ash. Based on the data obtained, the isoterm model that is suitable for this study is Freundlich with a value of R2 = 0,9721.
     
    Penelitian tentang adsorpsi fosfat menggunakan bottom ash batubara terkativasi NaOH telah dilakukan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengkaji pemanfaatan bottom ash sebaga adsorben untuk mengadsorpsi ion fosfat dari air. Tahapan penelitian dimulai dari proses aktivasi selama 5 jam dengan larutan NaOH 3 M. Setelah itu bottom ash tanpa aktivasi dan yang telah diaktivasi dikarakterisasi menggunakan Scanning Electron Microscopy- Energy Dispersive X-ray Spectroscopy (SEM-EDS). Berdasarkan hasil karakterisasi dengan SEM-EDS, pori-pori bottom ash sebelum aktivasi masih halus karena ditutupi oleh logam pengotor seperti Fe, Ti, dan Mg sedangkan setelah diaktivasi pori-pori bottom ash menjadi kasar karena logam pengotor seperti Fe, Ti, dan Mg bottom ash menjadi kasar karena logam pengotor seperti Fe, Mg, dan Ti telah hilang. Kemudian bottom ash diaplikasikan untuk menjerap ion fosfat dengan variasi ukuran partikel (50-70 mesh, 70-110 mesh, dan 110-140 mesh), massa adsorben (1, 2, dan 3 gram) dan waktu kontak (20, 40, dan 60 menit). Ion fosfat yang dijerap oleh bottom ash teraktivasi di analisa menggunakan spektrofotometer uv-vis. Hasil penjerapan ion fosfat terbaik (6,8 mg/l) diperoleh pada ukuran partikel 110-140 mesh, massa adsorben 3 gram dan waktu kontak 60 menit. Kapasitas adsorpsi tertinggi (6,39 mg/g) diperoleh pada massa adsorben 1 gram. Model isoterm Freundlich dan Langmuir digunakan untuk menggambarkan isoterm adsorpsi ion fosfat oleh bottom ash. Berdasarkan data yang telah didapat, model isoterm yang sesuai untuk penelitian ini adalah model isoterm Freudlich dengan nilai R2 = 0,9721.
