    Abstract
    This thesis entitled Autism Children’s Verbal Communication in Yakita School: A Case Study. The purpose of this thesis is to find out the type of treatment that is used by Yakita School Medan to stimulate the autism children‟s verbal communication and to find out the reasons why such treatment is used. In this thesis, the writer used descriptive qualitative method to analyze the data. The subjects are three students consist of 1 female and 2 male. Data obtained from observation and the deep interview result with the teacher. The data gathered is analyzed by the descriptive method with qualitative analysis by using Skinner‟s theory. The results of this thesis that there are three types of treatment to enhance the autism children‟s verbal communication in including Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Verbal Behavior Therapy (VBT) and Floortime; the reason of using such treatment because by these three treatment the autism children knows and understands which actions are right and wrong, autism children can build social interaction and autism children can establish two-way communication with the therapist when doing learning activities.
     
    Skripsi ini berjudul Autism Children’s Verbal Communication in Yakita School: A Case Study. Tujuan tesis ini untuk mengetahui jenis terapi yang digunakan oleh Yakita School Medan untuk mendorong komunikasi verbal anak autis dan mengetahui alasan mengapa terapi tersebut digunakan. Dalam skripsi ini, penulis menggunakan metode deskriptif kualitatif untuk menganalisis data. Subjek penelitian adalah tiga siswa yang terdiri dari 1 perempuan dan 2 laki-laki. Data diperoleh dari hasil observasi dan wawancara mendalam dengan guru. Data yang dikumpulkan dianalisis dengan metode deskriptif dengan analisis kualitatif menggunakan teori Skinner. Hasil penelitian ini bahwa ada tiga jenis terapi yang digunakan untuk meningkatkan komunikasi verbal anak autis yaitu Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Verbal Behavior Therapy (VBT) dan Floortime; alasan menggunakan terapi ini karena anak autis dapat mengetahui dan memahami tindakan mana yang benar dan salah, anak autis dapat membangun interaksi sosial dan anak autis dapat menjalin komunikasi dua arah dengan terapis ketika melakukan kegiatan belajar.
