    Penghilangan Tinta pada Kertas Koran Bekas dengan Perlakuan Alkalin Menggunakan Metode Ultrasonokimia

    Abstract
    Kertas koran bekas adalah salah satu media cetak yang diterbitkan setiap harinya dalam jumlah besar. Penelitian ini mengenai penghilangan tinta pada kertas koran bekas dengan perlakuan alkalin menggunakan metode ultrasonokimia. Proses penghilangan tinta dilakukan dengan dua metode, yaitu metode konvensional dan metode ultrasonokimia. Lembaran kertas yang dihasilkan dikarakterisasi melalui FT-IR, SEM, TGA, XRD, uji tarik dan derajat kecerahan. Analisis spektrum FT-IR menunjukkan adanya serapan gugus C=C pada bilangan gelombang 1427 dan 1635 cm-1 yang merupakan komponen utama penyusun kertas koran. Perlakuan kertas dengan larutan alkalin akan meningkatkan kekuatan sifat mekanik dan sifat termal kertas. Hal ini ditandai dengan meningkatnya modulus Young pada perlakuan ultrasonikasi-NaOH selama 60 menit yaitu sebesar 77% dibandingkan perlakuan ultrasonikasi-Mg(OH)2 selama 30 menit dengan peningkatan modulus Young sebesar 62%. Hasil analisa morfologi dengan menggunakan SEM menunjukkan bahwa permukaan kertas setelah perlakuan ultrasonik-alkalin lebih kasar dibandingkan dengan kertas konvensional yang tampak lebih halus. Nilai kristalinitas yang dihasilkan mengalami penurunan seiring perlakuan alkalin. Semakin lama waktu ultrasonik, semakin menurun derajat kristalinitas.
     
    Old newspaper is one of commonly printed paper media which is published daily in large quantities. This research of deinking on used old newspaper with alkaline treatment using a ultrasonochemistry method had been done. Deinking process was carried out in two stages : conventional using and ultrasonochemistry method. Resulthing sheet of paper were characterized using FT-IR, SEM, TGA, XRD tensile strength and brigthnes. FT-IR spectra showed C=O at 1427 and 1635 cm-1,which were the main components of newspaper.The treatment of paper with an alkaline solution increased the strength of the mechanical and the thermal properties. This was indicated by increasing Young’s modulus on ultrasonication of NaOH for 60 minute which was 77% compared to the ultrasonication-MgOH treatment for 30 minutes had a modulus young increase of 62%. The result of morphological analysis showed that the surface of the paper after ultrasonic-alkaline treatment was rougher compared to conventional paper which looked smoother. The crystallinity of the paper decreased with the alkaline treatment. In addition, the longer the ultrasonic procession, the lower its crystalinity.
