dc.description.abstract | This research was conducted to determine the effect of variations in the
composition of oil palm empty fruit bunches fiber and fiberglass on the physical and
mechanical properties of composites. The oil palm empty fruit bunches fiber used are
80 mesh and the fiberglass is cut into ± 1 cm to produce a random fiber orientation.
Then the composite were compressed using hotpress with a temperature 0f 70oC for
20 minutes. The parameters observed were physical properties (density, porosity,
water absorption) and mechanical properties (impact strength, flexural strength,
tensile strength), and microstructure analysis using SEM-EDX. The measurement
results show that the optimum conditions obtained by the composite characteristics
are as follows : density (1,197 gr/cm3), porosity (0,255%), and water absorption
(0,198%), impact strength (273,74 J/m2), flexural strength (109,84 MPa), tensile
strength (23,79 MPa). Based on the optimum density of 1,197gr/cm3 polymer
composite of oil palm empty fruit bunch fiber-fiberglass can be classified as “Hard
Board” according to JIS A 5905:2003 | en_US |
dc.description.abstract | Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh variasi komposisi serat
tandan kosong kelapa sawit dan serat kaca terhadap sifat fisis dan mekanik komposit.
Serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit yang digunakan berukuran 80 mesh dan serat kaca
di potong ± 1 cm hingga menghasilkan orientasi serat acak. Kemudian komposit
dicetak dengan menggunakan hotpress dengan suhu 70oc selama 20 menit. Parameter
yang diamati antara lain sifat fisis (densitas, porositas, penyerapan air) dan mekanis
(kuat impak, kuat lentur, kuat tarik), serta analisis mikrostruktur menggunakan SEMEDX.
Hasil pengukuran menunjukkan bahwa kondisi optimum yang diperoleh
karakteristik komposit polimer sebagai berikut: densitas (1,197 gr/cm3) ,porositas
(0,255%) dan penyerapan air (0,198%), kuat impak (273,74 J/m2), kuat lentur
(109,84 MPa), kuat tarik (23,79 MPa). Berdasarkan densitas optimumnya yaitu 1,197
komposit polimer serat tandan kosong kelapa sawit-serat kaca dapat diklasifikasikan
sebagai “Hard Board” berdasarkan JIS A 5905:2003. | en_US |
