    Pemanfaatan Serat Pelepah Pinang (Areca Catechu) dan Batu Apung Sebagai Bahan Pembuatan Batako dengan Resin Poliester Sebagai Perekat

    Abstract
    The research has been carried out for the manufacture of polymer bricks that utilize pumice, areca fiber and polyester resin. This research was conducted to determine the effect of the addition of pumice, areca nut fiber, and polyester resin to the physical and mechanical properties of polymer brick. making samples is done by sifting 80 mesh. variations in the composition were hot pressed at 90oC for 25 minutes using the hot press method. The parameters tested include physical properties (testing density, porosity, water absorption) mechanical properties (flexural strength, compressive strength, impact strength) as well as SEM-EDX microstructure analysis. the results showed that the optimum mixture was as follows: density (1.60 gr / cm3, porosity 7.31%, water absorption 3.19%, mechanical properties including flexural strength 21.84 MPA, compressive strength 14.46 MPA, impact strength 91.55 KJ / m2.The results of SEM-EDX microstructure analysis show that the pores produced are few.
     
    Telah dilakukan penelitian untuk pembuatan batako polimer yang mamanfaatkan batu apung, serat pelepah pinang dan resin polyester.Penelitian ini dilakukan untuk mengetahui pengaruh penambahan batu apung, serat pelepah pinang, dan resin polyester terhadap sifat fisis dan sifat mekanik batako polimer.pembuatan sampel dilakukan dengan tahap pengayakan 80 mesh. Variasi komposisi dikempa panas dengan suhu 900 C selama 25 menit dengan menggunakan metode hot press. Parameter yang diuji antara lain sifat fisis ( pengujian densitas,porositas,penyerapan air) dan mekanis (kuat lentur,kuat tekan,kuat impak) serta analisis mikrostruktur SEM-EDX. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa campuran yang optimum adalah sebagai berikut: densitas (1,60 gr/cm3), porositas ( 2,74%), penyerapan air ( 1,74%), sifat mekanik meliputi kuat lentur (21,84 MPa), kuat tekan (14,46 MPa), kuat impak (91,55KJ/m2). Hasil analisi SEM-EDX menunjukkan bahwa pori-pori yang dihasilkan sedikit.
