    Studi Penyisihan Fosfat dan Nitrat Menggunakan Resin Penukar Ion Tulsion A-23 dengan Sistem Batch

    Abstract
    Phosphorus and nitrogen are one of the main nutrients in the growth of biological organisms and are necessary ingredients in industry. However, an increase in excess phosphate and nitrate content in water can cause eutrophication. One of the effective methods to removal phosphate and nitrate is the ion exchange. This study aims to determine the efficiency of phosphate and nitrate removal from anionic water solutions by batch method using commercially available anion exchange resins, Tulsion A-23. Models of adsorption isotherms, adsorption kinetics, thermodynamic parameters and adsorption selectivity were studied in terms of the effect of solution pH, contact time, initial concentration of solution and temperature. The results of this study revealed that the ion exchange process is preferred at a pH of around 8. The maximum adsorption capacity of phosphates from the Langmuir isotherm is 38.4615 mg/g and nitrate is 58.8235 mg/g. The adsorption kinetics indicated that phosphate and nitrate adsorption can be described very well with the second-order pseudo-kinetic model. The thermodynamic study state that the mechanism of phosphate adsorption by Tulsion A-23 resins occurs exothermic, spontaneous and physisorption. While the mechanism of nitrate adsorption occurs in an endothermic, spontaneous, and physisorption. Tulsion A-23 resin shows greater selectivity in nitrate removal than phosphate.
     
    Fosfor dan nitrogen merupakan salah satu nutrisi utama dalam pertumbuhan organisme biologis dan merupakan bahan yang diperlukan dalam perindustrian. Namun peningkatan kandungan fosfat dan nitrat yang berlebih dalam air dapat menyebabkan eutrofikasi. Salah satu metode penyisihan fosfat dan nitrat yang efektif adalah metode pertukaran ion. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efisiensi penyisihan fosfat dan nitrat dari larutan air anionik dengan metode batch menggunakan resin penukar anion yang tersedia secara komersial yaitu Tulsion A-23. Model isoterm adsorpsi, kinetika adsorpsi, parameter termodinamika serta selektivitas adsorpsi dipelajari dengan ditinjau dari pengaruh pH larutan, waktu kontak, konsentrasi awal larutan dan temperatur. Hasil penelitian ini mengungkapkan bahwa proses pertukaran ion disukai pada pH larutan sekitar 8. Kapasitas maksimum adsorpsi fosfat yang berasal dari isotherm Langmuir sebesar 38,4615 mg/g dan nitrat sebesar 58,8235 mg/g. Kinetika adsorpsi menunjukkan bahwa adsorpsi fosfat dan nitrat dapat digambarkan dengan model kinetika pseudo orde dua dengan sangat baik. Studi termodinamika menyatakan mekanisme adsorpsi fosfat oleh resin Tulsion A-23 terjadi secara eksotermik, spontan dan fisisorpsi. Sementara mekanisme adsorpsi nitrat terjadi secara secara endotermik, spontan serta fisisorpsi. Resin Tulsion A-23 menunjukkan selektivitas yang lebih besar dalam penyisihan nitrat daripada fosfat.
