    Kajian Pengaruh Pemakaian Katalis (KOH) pada Proses Produksi Biodiesel dengan Menggunakan Static Mixing Reactor

    Abstract
    Biodiesel in general is an alternative fuel to substitute diesel fuel which is made from renewable raw material sources, produced chemically by reacting vegetable oils and methanol (transesterification process). The purpose of this research was to obtain the value of acid numbers, saponification rates, total glycerol, methyl esters, and viscosity on the use of KOH catalyst 0.3%, 0.4%, 0.5% (w/w) using a static mixing reactor that has 9 reactors, carried out at a temperature of 60°C. The results showed the average value of the smallest acid number obtained at 0.5% catalyst in reactor 9 was 0.075 mgKOH/g. The average value of the largest saponification number obtained at 0.5% catalyst in reactor 9 was 336.6 mgKOH/g. The smallest glycerol total value was obtained at 0.5% catalyst in reactor 9 was 0.092%, the best methyl ester fulfilled SNI on the use of catalyst 0.5% at reactor 9 was 99.85%. While the smallest viscosity value was obtained at 0.5% catalyst in reactor 7 of 1.9 cSt.
     
    Biodiesel secara umum adalah bahan bakar alternatif pengganti bahan bakar diesel yang dibuat dari sumber bahan baku yang dapat diperbaharui, diproduksi secara kimiawi dengan cara mereaksikan minyak nabati dan metanol (proses transesterifikasi). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendapatkan nilai angka asam, angka penyabunan, gliserol total, metil ester dan viskositas pada pemakaian katalis KOH 0,3%, 0,4%, 0,5% (w/w) menggunakan alat static mixing reactor yang memiliki 9 reaktor, dilakukan pada suhu 60°C. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan nilai rata-rata bilangan asam terkecil diperoleh pada katalis 0,5% pada reaktor 9 sebesar 0,075 mgKOH/g. Nilai rata-rata bilangan penyabunan terbesar diperoleh pada katalis 0,5% pada reaktor 9 sebesar 336,6 mgKOH/g. Nilai gliserol total terkecil diperoleh pada katalis 0,5% pada reaktor 9 sebesar 0,092 %, dengan demikian didapatkan metil ester terbaik memenuhi SNI pada pemakaian katalis 0,5% pada reaktor 9 sebebsar 99,85%. Nilai viskositas terkecil diperoleh pada katalis 0,5% pada reaktor 7 sebesar 1,9 cSt.
