Uji Adaptasi Beberapa Varietas Tanaman Sorgum(Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench.) pada Media Tanah Ultisol yang Diberi Cocopeat di Rhizotron

Abstract

DEVY THERESIA GEOVANY SIMANJUNTAK :Adaptation Test Some Sorghum Varieties (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench.) on the media of Ultisol soil which were given Cocopeat in Rhizotron. Supervised by KHAIRUNNISA LUBIS and EVA SARTINI BAYU. The objective of this research was to study the adaptation of several varieties of sorghum plants in ultisol soil media which are given cocopeat and variety performance and obtain information on variability and heritability values as a reference for selection.The research was conducted at the Greenhouse, Faculty of Agriculture, University of North Sumatra, Medan from April 2019 until January 2020. The research used a two factorial randomized block design and three replications, the first factor was planting media(topsoil, ultisol, ultisol + cocopeat 1 kg, ultisol + cocopeat 2 kg) and the second factor is variety (pahat, kawali, samurai 1, samurai 2). The data obtained were analyzed using analysis variance and continued with the DMRT test. The results showed that there are differences in the performance of several varieties of sorghum plants on vegetative growth (plant height, number of leaves, stem diameter) and root morphology (root volume) of sorghum plants on the media of cocopeat ultisol soil, the influence of ultisol soil media given cocopeat on vegetative growth (stem diameter, number of leaves) and root morphology (root length) of sorghum plants, the influence of interaction between sorghum plant varieties and ultisol soil media which were given cocopeat on vegetative growth (number of leaves) and root morphology (root length) of sorghum plant.

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui adaptasi beberapa varietas tanaman sorgum pada media tanah ultisol yang diberi cocopeat serta keragaan varietas dan mendapat informasi nilai variabilitas dan heritabilitas sebagai acuan untuk seleksi. Penelitian dilaksanakan di Rumah Kaca, Fakultas Pertanian, Universitas Sumatera Utara, Medan. Pada april 2019 sampai dengan januari 2020 menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok dua faktorial dan tiga ulangan, faktor pertama adalah media tanam (topsoil, ultisol, ultisol + cocopeat 1 kg, ultisol + cocopeat 2 kg) dan faktor kedua adalah varietas (pahat, kawali, samurai 1, samurai 2). Data yang diperoleh dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan dengan uji DMRT. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa adanya perbedaan keragaan beberapa varietas tanaman sorgum terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif (tinggi tanaman, jumlah daun, diameter batang) dan morfologi akar (volume akar) tanaman sorgum pada media tanah ultisol yang diberi cocopeat, adanya pengaruh media tanah ultisol yang diberi cocopeat terhadap pertumbuhan vegetatif (diameter batang, jumlah daun) dan morfologi akar (panjang akar) tanaman sorgum, adanya pengaruh interaksi antara varietas tanaman sorgum dan media tanah ultisol yang diberi cocopeat pada pertumbuhan vegetatif (jumlah daun) dan morfologi akar (panjang akar) tanaman sorgum.
