    Pengaruh Orientasi Sudut Arah Serat Jute Terhadap Sifat Fisis dan Mekanik Komposit dengan Resin Poliester

    Abstract
    Composite fabrication and characterization of the effect of jute fiber angular orientation on the physical and mechanical properties of composite boards with polyester resin matrices have been carried out as an alternative composite material. Jute fiber is obtained from the basic material of gunny rope which has been produced by certain factories, composite board formation with polyester resin and jute fiber as reinforcement has a composition of 85% in polyester resin and 15% in jute fiber. To find data on physical and mechanical properties of composite boards, jute fibers as fillers will be varied by fiber angle layout which is equal to 00, 300, 450, 600, 900. Physical properties consist of density, water absorption, porosity and various mechanical tests performed at each sample. Based on its chemical properties jute fibers have elementary fiber lengths ranging from 1-5 mm and an average of 2 mm, while fiber diameters range between 20μ - 25μ and an average of 23μ. The main composition of dry raw jute fibers is as follows: Percentage arrangement, 71% cellulose, 13% lignin, 13% hemicellulose, 0.2% pectin, 2.3% water-soluble substances, fat and Wax 0, 5%. The results of testing the physical and mechanical properties of jute fiber produced the value from 1.22 gr/cm3 - 1.2 gr/ cm3, water absorption capacity from 2.74% - 12.5%, porosity from 3.33% - 15%, strong bending 91.65 MPa-14.7 MPa, impact strength 19.37 J/mm2 2-9.05 J/mm2, and tensile strength 19.126 Mpa - 3.069 MPa. The results showed physical and mechanical properties that met the JIS A 5905: 2003 Standard, namely flexural strength> 32 MPa, density 0.3-1.3 gr/cm3 and moisture content <25%. Composite jute fiber with polyester resin can be applied to the car bumper.
     
    Pembuatan dan karakterisasi komposit pengaruh orientasi sudut arah serat jute terhadap sifat fisis dan mekanik papan komposit dengan matriks resin poliester telah dilakukan sebagai bahan alternative material komposit. Serat jute didapat pada bahan dasar tali goni yang telah diproduksi oleh pabrik tertentu, pembentukkan papan komposit dengan resin poliester serta serat jute sebagai penguat memiliki komposisi 85% pada resin poliester dan 15% pada serat jute. Dicari data sifat fisis dan mekanik dari papan komposit, serat jute sebagai filler akan divariasikan tata letak sudut serat yaitu sebesar 00, 300, 450, 600, 900. Sifat fisis terdiri atas densitas, penyerapan air, porositas dan berbagai tes mekanis dilakukan pada setiap sampel. Berdasarkan sifat kimianya serat jute memiliki panjang serat elementer berkisar antara 1-5 mm dan rata-rata 2 mm, sedangkan diameter serat berkisar antara 20μ - 25μ dan rata-rata 23μ. Komposisi utama serat jute mentah yang kering adalah sebagai berikut: Susunan Persentase, selulosa 71%, lignin 13%, hemi selulosa 13%, pektin 0,2%, zat-zat yang larut dalam air 2,3%, lemak dan Lilin 0,5%. Hasil pengujian sifat fisis dan mekanik komposit serat jute dihasilkan nilai densitas 1,22 gr/cm3 - 1,2 gr/cm3, daya serap air 2,74% - 12,5%, porositas 3,33% - 15%, kuat lentur 91,65 MPa - 14,7 MPa, kuat impak 19,37 J/ mm2 - 9,05 J/ mm2, dan kuat tarik 19,126 MPa - 3,069 MPa. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan sifat fisis dan mekanik yang memenuhi Standart JIS A 5905 : 2003 yaitu kuat lentur >32 MPa, densitas 0,3 - 1,3 gr/ cm3 dan kadar air < 25%. Komposit serat jute dengan resin poliester dapat diaplikasikan menjadi bumper mobil.
