    Pengaruh Variasi Ukuran Butiran Terhadap Karakteristik Zeolit Alam Pahae, Kabupaten Tapanuli Utara, Provinsi Sumatera Utara

    Abstract
    Telah dilakukan penelitian tentang pengaruh variasi ukuran butiran terhadap karakteristik zeolit alam Pahae dengan variasi ukuran 200 mesh (75 μm), 325 mesh (45 μm), 400 mesh (38 μm) dan nano (118,4 nm). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui pengaruh ukuran butiran terhadap karakteristik zeolit yang berpotensi sebagai adsorben. Setelah itu, zeolit ukuran 200 mesh (75 μm), 325 mesh (45 μm), 400 mesh (38 μm) dan nano (118,4 nm) di uji sifat fisis (porositas dan daya serap air). Dari hasil pengujian sifat fisis zeolit 325 mesh memiliki porositas dan daya serap air optimum sebesar 81,90% dan 98,29%. Kemudian, zeolit 325 mesh diaktivasi kimia menggunakan larutan H2SO4 6% dan diaktivasi fisika dengan tiga variasi suhu 700ºC, 800ºC, dan 900ºC selama 4 jam. Butiran zeolit dikarakterisasi untuk menentukan ukuran diameter (PSA), morfologi permukaan (SEM), kandungan unsur (EDX), struktur kristal (XRD), luas permukaan (BET). Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa ukuran butiran mempengaruhi karakteristik zeolit yang berpotensi sebagai adsorben. Zeolit 325 mesh mempunyai ukuran diameter rata-rata 274,6 nm, memiliki unsur O (Oksigen) sebesar 51,3 %, Si (Silika) sebesar 22,1 %,C (Karbon) sebesar 13,2 %, Al (Aluminium) sebesar 6,8 %, dan rasio Si/Al adalah 3,25, mengandung fasa mordenite dan keatite, Surface Area = 14,479 m²/g, Pore Volume = 0,031 cc/g, dan Pore Radius Dv(r) = 16,366 Å.
     
    Research on the effect of grain size variation on the characteristics of natural zeolite Pahae has been made with a size variations of 200 mesh (75 μm), 325 mesh (45 μm), 400 mesh (38 μm) and nano (118.4 nm). The purpose of this study was to determine the effect variation of the grain size on the characteristics of zeolite has potential as adsorbent. After that, zeolite sieved with 200 mesh (75 μm), 325 mesh (45 μm), 400 mesh (38 μm), and nano(118.4 nm) are characterized to determine physical properties (porosity and water absorption). The 325-mesh zeolite had optimum porosity and water adsorption values was 81.90% and 98.29%. Then 325 mesh zeolite was chemically activated using 6% H2SO4 solution and physics activated with three variations of temperature of 700°C, 800°C and 900°C for 4 hours. Grain of zeolites are characterized to determine diameter size (PSA), surface morphology (SEM), elemental content (EDX), crystal structure (XRD), surface area (BET). The study results to show that the grain influences the characteristics of zeolite has potential as an adsorbent. The 325-mesh zeolite had an average diameter 274.6 nm, morpholgy rough and porous, have elements unsur O (Oxygen): 51.3 %, Si (Sillica): 22.1 %,C (Carbon): 13.2 %, Al (Aluminium): 6.8 %, and rasio Si/Al is 3.25, fasa crystal is mordenite and keatite, Surface Area = 14.479 m²/g, Pore Volume = 0.031 cc/g, and Pore Radius Dv(r) = 16.366 Å.
