Background: Baby blues syndrome is the mildest change in mood, which does not require treatment and is considered a physiological state that may be related to biological modification. Symptoms of mood swings, irritability, crying, general anxiety, and sleep and appetite disorders in 3-5 days after delivery. The exact cause of baby blues syndrome is unknown, but various factors such as hormonal changes, socio-cultural factors, economic conditions, and relationship conflicts have been found to be related. Aim: To find out whether there is a relationship between age, length of education, monthly family income, gestational age at delivery, number of deliveries, previous depressive episodes, sex of the baby, previous abortion or infant death, birth weight and self esteem with Blues Questionnaire scores ( BQ) in postpartum mothers. Method: This study was a predictive type multivariate study with a cross-sectional approach that is analyzing the relationship between several independent variables with dependent variables using the BQ instrument, which was carried out at the Obgyn outpatient installation in Madani General Hospital, Medan, North Sumatra. Results: By analyzing the backward method, a linear regression equation is obtained based on table 4.4, namely the BQ score = 5.073 + 0.122 * maternal age - 5.91 * income + 0.14 * self esteem.. Conclusion: : There is a relationship between family income / month with a BQ score (p = 0.04). There is a relationship between Self Esteem with a BQ score (p = 0.03) in postpartum mothers.en_US
