    Abstract
    ABNIDARIA AYU POHAN: Pengaruh Tingkat Kepadatan Tanah Terhadap Pertumbuhan Tanaman Jagung (Zea mays L.), dibimbing oleh TAUFIK RIZALDI. Pengaplikasian alat dan mesin pertanian memberikan dampak negatif. Salah satunya adalah terjadinya pemadatan tanah akibat penggunaan alat berat yang melintasi lahan.Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengkaji pengaruh tingkat kepadatan tanah terhadap pertumbuhan tanaman jagung dan menentukan bobot isi yang paling sesuai untuk tanaman tersebut.Penelitian ini dilaksanakan dengan Rancangan Acak Lengkap (RAL) yang selanjutnya dilakukan uji lanjut Duncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa peningkatan kepadatan tanah berpengaruh sangat nyata terhadap tinggi tanaman, diameter batang, panjang akar, biomassa kering dan basah tanaman jagung, kadar air, porositas, tahanan penetrasi tanah baik sebelum tanam maupun sesudah tanam.Peningkatan kepadatan tanah tidak berpengaruh nyata terhadap jumlah daun tanaman jagung.Kepadatan tanah yang paling sesuai untuk pertumbuhan jagung adalah pada bobot isi 1,0 g/cm3
     
    The Effect of Soil Compaction Rate on the Growth of Maize Crop (Zea Mays L.), supervised by TAUFIK RIZALDI The application of agricultural tools and machinery has a negative impact. One of them is the occurrence of soil compaction due to the use of heavy equipment that crosses the land. The purpose of this study is to examine the effect of soil compaction on the growth of maize crops and determine the most suitable bulk density for these crops.Completed random design is used as experimental design and Duncan’s Multiple Range Test (DMRT) is used to identify the effect of treatment.The results showed that the increase in soil compaction had a very significant effect on plant height, stem diameter, root length, dry and wet biomass of maize, moisture content, porosity, soil penetration resistance both before planting and after planting. The increase of soil compaction did not significantly effect on the amount of leaves of maize crop. The most suitable soil compaction for maize growth is bulk density 1.0 g/cm3.
