Relevansi Pendidikan Alumni Program Studi Ekonomi Pembangunan Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Sumatera Utara terhadap Dunia Kerja

Abstract

Higher education pursued by someone should contain important elements to be implemented in the work field of the graduates. Therefore, there needs to be a match between graduates’ education with the work field. This research aims to determine the relevance of graduates' education of the Economic Development Studies Program Faculty of Economics and Business, University of North Sumatera, observed from the field of work. In addition, this stu dy also aims to determine the effect of academic achievement, study period, and organizational activity on the work of graduates. The type of research is quantitative descriptive, which is descriptive research with a quantitative approach. The population is graduates of the Economic Development Studies Program Faculty of Economics and Business, University of North Sumatera class of 2011-2015. The amount of sample is 100 respondents using a proportional random sampling technique. The data collection used is a questionnaire. The analysis technique uses Partial Least Square. The results show that the relevance of alumni education to the work field as measured by their occupational fields is 66% in the first job and 71% in the current employment categorized in the economic and non-economic fields. Furthermore, relevance, as measured by the cumulative achievement index (GPA), has a positive and significant effect on work, the study period has no effect on work, and organizational activity has a positive and significant effect on work.

Pendidikan tinggi yang ditempuh oleh seseorang sudah seharusnya mengandung unsur-unsur penting untuk diimplementasikan dalam pekerjaan para lulusan. Oleh karena itu, perlu ada kesesuaian antara pendidikan lulusan dengan dunia kerjanya. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui relevansi pendidikan lulusan Program Studi Ekonomi Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Sumatera Utara yang diamati dari bidang pekerjaan. Selain itu, penelitian ini juga bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengaruh prestasi belajar, masa studi, dan keaktifan berorganisasi terhadap dunia kerja para lulusan. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kuantitatif, yaitu penelitian deskriptif dengan pendekatan kuantitatif. Populasi dalam penelitian ini adalah lulusan Program Studi Ekonomi Fakultas Ekonomi dan Bisnis Universitas Sumatera Utara tahun angkatan 2011-2015. Pengambilan sampel sebanyak 100 responden dengan proportional random sampling. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah kuesioner. Teknik analisis menggunakan analisis Partial Least Square. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa relevansi pendidikan alumni terhadap dunia kerja yang diukur berdasarkan bidang pekerjaan mereka sebesar 66% pada pekerjaan pertama dan sebanyak 71% pada pekerjaan saat ini yang dikategorikan dalam bidang ekonomi dan non-ekonomi. Selanjutnya, relevansi yang diukur melalui variabel Indeks Prestasi Kumulatif (IPK) berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pekerjaan, variabel masa studi tidak berpengaruh terhadap pekerjaan, dan variabel keaktifan berorganisasi berpengaruh positif dan signifikan terhadap pekerjaan.
