    Abstract
This study aims to determine the types and growth patterns of fish caught in the Seruai River, Deli Serdang Regency, of North Sumatra Province. This research was conducted with a purpose sampling method in February - March 2019. Based on the results of the study, 11 types of fishes were caught with a total of 116 fishes, consisting of 11 of Baung (Mystus nemurus), 14 of Cencen (Mystacoleucus marginatus), 22 of Tilapia (Oreochromis niloticus), 7 of Sibaro (Hampala macrolepidota), 5 of Catfish (Clarias sp), 14 of Sembilang (Plotosus canius), 13 of Belanak (Valamugil seheli), 27 of Sapu-Sapu (Pterygoplichthys disjunctivus), 1 of Sepat Rawa (Trichogaster tricopterus), 1 of Snakehead fish (Channa striata) and 1 of Gabus Pasir (Glossogobius aureus). In this study, the parameters measured were length and weight of fish, condition factors and water quality. All of fish species have a negative allometric growth pattern. The largest value of the condition factor was found in Tilapia (1.0971) and followed by Sapu-sapu (1.0889), while the lowest condition factor was found on Sibaro (0.8071). The relationship between fish weight and fish length is very strong with the determinant coefficient (R2) approaching to 1.
